Revenue Accounting Manager

Accounting and Finance Fremont, California


This position will oversee and review the creation and issuance of regular customer invoices generated by the billing staff and manage the collections process.  They will also develop and implement policies and procedures surrounding invoicing, collections and revenue recognition. The Revenue Accounting Manager will also be responsible for project management for revenue and billing focused initiatives and leadership and development of staff. Position currently has one direct report.


  • Supervise collection activities to maximize A/R turnover and minimize risk of bad debts.
  • Supervise billing specialist with detailed review of regular customer invoicing to ensure data integrity and completeness of invoicing.
  • Prepare Cash receipts forecast
  • Work with Sales Ops in Contract negotiation and development to ensure compliance with US GAAP
  • Prepare management reports including revenue analysis and metrics
  • Review all revenue related contracts to determine proper revenue recognition methodology, including completion of accounting summary for each contract
  • Assist in research and writing technical accounting memos that analyze and conclude on revenue issues on customer contracts.
  • Assist with Company's initiative for Sarbanes-Oxley 404 compliance by maintaining required documentation and coordinating the testing of Revenue cycle
  • Develop and implement operational procedures related to revenue and collections which can scale with industry expansions and contractions
  • Review and/or prepare AR and Revenue/Deferred Revenue related journal entries and prepare reconciliations.
  • 6–8 years professional experience, including at least 4 years of experience in revenue recognition, including most recent guidance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Big 4 CPA desirable
  • Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills a must
  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to handle multiple, competing tasks simultaneously
  • Confidence, good judgment, energy and personality to work in a dynamic environment across all levels of management and across functions and geographies
  • Proficient in MS Excel. Experience with large ERP system (SAP preferable)
  • Ability to effectively communicate across functions, jurisdictions, time zones and all levels of management
  • Strong technical skills in revenue recognition including contract review and compliance with US GAAP
  • Hands on work experience preferred in supporting cost accounting function in a manufacturing environment
  • Sound technical accounting and problem solving skills, well organized and attention to detail
