Export / Import Compliance Analyst

Description

Candidate will be responsible for assisting the Global Trade Compliance Manager in the development and implementation of the company’s Import and Export Compliance Program & Roadmap relating to U.S. and foreign laws and regulations. These laws regulations includes, but not limited to, the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Foreign Trade Regulations, and the various sanctions and embargo regulations promulgated by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processing of daily export and import operational transactions, including HTS & ECCN classification requests; updating and releasing orders in SAP with applicable license information; and expediting release of shipments on Customs-hold.
  • Perform self-classifications of products and coordinate with suppliers on third-party classifications.
  • Assist with Foreign Trade and cross-functional projects, which may involve advising of destination country requirements.
  • Process export shipping requests & documents for shipments transacted outside of SAP.
  • Maintain Deemed Exports and Denied Persons screening activities and processes for customers, vendors, employees, and visitors.
  • Maintain and update license logs ensuring compliance with export license quantities and values.
  • Ensures legal compliance per Company policy and Governmental rules and regulations, including appropriate licensing for shipments.
  • Liaison with freight forwarders and customs brokers for imports to resolve issues related to filing customs entries for exported or imported products.
  • Perform internal export and import audits (e.g. manometer logs, AES filings, etc.), as required, including writing applicable report; providing corrective action; follow-up and closure.
  • Submit commodity jurisdiction requests to the Departments of State and/or Commerce as needed.
  • Communicate promptly with internal teams (e.g. Part Support, Shipping and Logistics, including foreign subsidiaries, etc.) for export/import-related inquiries.
  • Provide updates of daily activities to the Global Trade Compliance Manager (GTM).
  • Assists with other tasks, as assigned by the GTM.


Skills and Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years or more Import / Export experience
  • Advance knowledge of the EAR, OFAC, US Customs, FCC, Foreign Trade, ITAR laws and regulations
  • ECCN and HTS classification skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Able to prioritize and multi-task
  • Communicate effectively, both verbal and written
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • SAP experience

Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements:

  • Successful completion of required Safety training.
  • Ensure equipment and machines are maintained in safe operating condition.
  • Report to the Safety Officer any unsafe or unhealthy condition which cannot be corrected.
  • Follow all safety and health regulations and work practices, including personal protective equipment where applicable.
