QA Inspector

Manufacturing - Materials, Production, Production Support Fremont, California


This position reports to the Director of Quality and will perform incoming/final inspection of purchased materials including sub assemblies.

Essential Functions:

  • Inspects the acceptability of purchased materials by thorough examination(visual/mechanical) according to material specifications (engineering drawings) and using the appropriate inspection tools (including Zeiss CMM) and inspection methodology (GD&T Principles). Write CMM programs.<span
  • Conducts a thorough documentation review, ensuring that all information recorded on quality records are complete and meets the requirement.<span
  • Clearly and accurately records the result of inspection on appropriate inspection forms. There are two types of inspections - First Article Inspection and Lot to Lot Inspections.<span
  • Ensures that only calibrated inspection tool is used for inspection and handles tools appropriately to prevent damage.<span
  • Writes Nonconforming Material Report/QN. Communicates issues verbally and in writing to responsible engineers.<span
  • Prioritizes work assignments to ensure timely completion. Communicates status of workload to the department lead.<span
  • Interacts effectively with peers and internal and external customers - Engineers, Purchasing, Supplier, Manufacturing, etc.<span
  • Must be comfortable in operating a computer and keying inspections into the data management system.<span
  • Assist in root cause analysis activities as required.<span
  • Works in a team environment, supports engineering, reporting dimensional, statistical, capability measurement system data, data collection, etc.<span
  • Participates and contributes to continuous improvement activities.
  • Takes responsibility for safety in immediate work area. Participates in EH&S programs. Notifies supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment.<span
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by QA Management
  • Any additional responsibilities assigned


  • A minimum of a high school diploma<span
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience performing machine parts inspection<span
  • Strong mathematics skill<span
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills.<span
  • Highly detail oriented<span
  • Good written and verbal communication skills<span
  • Good organizational and prioritization skills<span
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings<span
  • Knowledge/experience of Excel, SAP,  etc.

Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements:

  • Successful completion of required Safety training.
  • Ensure equipment and machines are maintained in safe operating condition.
  • Report to the Safety Officer any unsafe or unhealthy condition which cannot be corrected.
  • Follow all safety and health regulations and work practices, including personal protective equipment where applicable.
