The Director, Operations Production Planning and Control is responsible to lead and establish supply planning standards, including: Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and supporting ERP parameters; linkage to Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP); consumption based planning and supply planning standard work. This position is responsible to create and implement an accelerated capability building system with emphasis on significantly improving inventory turns. Extensive experience managing supply planning excellence to achieve results in a large, complex organization is required.

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and implement action plans to define and continually advance global standards and training for supply planning excellence that deliver significant improvements in inventory turns, margin expansion and delivery performance
  • Develop and deploy policy, standards and methods to define and apply the best planning strategy for each part including use of PFEP, MRP and consumption based planning to stabilize production systems and optimize material flow
  • Establish functional excellence by collaborating with Product Groups, Sales functions and sites to assess and build global supply planning capability to achieve subject matter expert development plans globally across the organization
  • Program manage and optimize ERP planning systems by coordinating globally with MIS and PG’s to identify, specify, prioritize and deploy IT enhancements that support supply planning excellence
  • Coach and hold Product Groups, Sales functions and senior leadership accountable to standard supply planning methods and standards through visual management, standard work, leader standard work, daily layered accountability (DLA) and SIOP


Job Specifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Operations, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or Business Administration or equivalent required. Master's Degree in Operations, Supply Chain Management or Business Administration preferred.

Years Experience:

Required: 10+ years of experience leading in supply chain management or operations at a large Fortune 500/ FTSE 250 company

Required: 5+ years of experience in Leading and deploying transformational change in use of planning systems and planning systems excellence at a Fortune 500/FTSE 250 company

Skills:

  • Ideal candidate can demonstrate prior experience deploying a rigorous supply planning strategy and system across a large industrial company (Fortune 500/ FTSE 250)
  • Additional experience in change management methodologies and implementing large scale change in a complex global business is required
  • Ability to visualize and plan objectives and goals strategically
  • Ability to develop process while keeping focus on achieving breakthrough results
  • Ability to work independently and lead others regardless of reporting structure to meet objectives
  • Expert knowledge of supply chain and operations
  • Expert technical knowledge of ERP systems (SAP preferred), master production scheduling, MRP and production planning strategies including knowledge of key parameters used to optimize delivery and inventory is required
  • Experience deploying mixed model production planning that includes implementation of flow lines and replenishment pull in combination with MRP methods
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and execute rigorous supply and reconciliation reviews as part of the SIOP process
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and provide cross-functional leadership at all levels in the organization
  • Strong business acumen to convey business insights and communicate needed decisions to senior leaders
  • Decisively makes high-quality decisions in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated use of lean tools to drive sustainable cultural change in a large global organization
  • Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, SharePoint and web-browsers
  • APICS certification highly desirable
