Description

Skills required:

  • Active participation as a member of  emergency response team
  • Cubicle configurations and relocation/moves
  • Ability to use power hand tools such as: power drills, pressure washer, portable compressors, shop vacuum, etc.
  • Conduct equipment inspections
  • Program and monitor the facility building security system & surveillance system
  • Provide guidance to contractors
  • Follow EH&S protocols
  • Trouble-shooting capabilities
  • Dry vacuum pump change out
  • Order hazardous chemicals (gasses and wet chemicals)
  • Transport and change out of compressed gas cylinder; includes hazardous and non-hazardous gasses.
  • Transport and disposition of wet chemicals. This includes the handling of corrosives (acids and bases) and flammable liquids
  • Hazardous waste shipment preparation
  • Monitor and maintain the facility fire alarm system and life safety system
  • Acts as the primary contact for any building issues (climate control, odors, smoke, spills, damage, emergencies and repairs)
  • Monitors contractor performance and works closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to specifications
  • May act as the project coordinator for all size projects including large scale repair and new facility construction projects
  • Assists with maintaining building security and immediately responds to building emergencies on a 24-hour basis, on call
  • Assists the Facilities Manager in preparing the annual maintenance budget
  • Solicits bids and quotes from vendors
  • Monitors and replaces light bulbs as needed
  • Makes minor plumbing repairs, as necessary
  • Coordinates and assists with departmental and employee moves
  • Performs basic electrical work and determines when a electrician is required
  • Performs other maintenance duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience preferred
  • Must be able to effectively communicate (oral and written) with all employees, contractors and vendors
  • Self-starter and team player
  • Must be organized and provide deliverables in support of project plans
  • Must be computer literate
  • Certificate in trade school or equivalent work experience related to project management, vendor management, facilities and/or maintenance is a plus
  • Weekly on call rotation with team members

Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements:

  • Successful completion of required Safety training.
  • Ensure equipment and machines are maintained in safe operating condition.
  • Report to the Safety Officer any unsafe or unhealthy condition which cannot be corrected.
  • Follow all safety and health regulations and work practices, including personal protective equipment where applicable.
