The Vice President of Business Development provides the leadership for our US Integrated Marketing practice in the area of incremental revenue delivery. The position is responsible for optimization, prospecting as well as strategy and presentation of our business credentials and responses to RFP documents. The VP of Business Development will ensure Match will deliver its growth objectives set out in its annual strategic and operating plans, while building a team that will be seen as a leader of the agencies expertise within the industry.


Business Development Optimization

  • Responsible for the creation and delivery of an annual business development plan
  • Responsible for the delivery of annual new business revenue targets
  • Optimize overarching new business process
  • Responsible for coordinating the efforts of all team members in the identification and lead generation of new client opportunities.
  • Responsible for identifying outstanding sales material which may be required to pitch new business and work with strategy team on development
  • Responsible for the participation in the monthly NA business development meetings
  • Responsible to support the base business in large briefs and pitches with industry strategy
  • Works collaboratively with other departments to establish and carry out responsibilities.
  • Identify and capitalize on emerging marketing trends and ideas.
  • Build and maintain a working expertise of industry tools “best practices” for use in prospective client presentations
  • Understand and optimize match’s fee structure for agency compensation for recurring services
  • Work closely with senior management team to structure and negotiate compensation terms per the above
  • Identify new business opportunities that are aligned with Match Marketing’s business offerings net new and organically.
  • Evaluate existing client referral base to identify opportunities for organic growth and service expansion
  • Determine agency ROI – gauging the investment in the client to evaluate overall yield and longevity
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to business development teams.
  • Assist in bi-annual client performance audits with the objective to increase agency/client performance thus generating potential incremental business and referrals
  • Execute annual client and category assessments to identify non conflict business development targets
  • Ongoing growth of revenue via sales of agencies services to new clients (current projection 15% growth)
  • Create, implement and own sales pipeline to manage client lead intake, outbound activity and prioritization

 RFP Management

  • Evaluate RFP business opportunities
  • Responsible for leading a cross functional team including new business, strategy team, account service, content team and possibly other practices in the effort of new business pitches.
  • Determine logistical elements and components of RFP to determine feasibility and recommend ways of structuring pitches
  • Establish key stakeholders’ roles and responsibilities and route accordingly in conjunction with strategy team
  • Assist in writing presentations (excellent strategic writing skills are mandatory for this position)
  • Research client’s business, products and initiatives as well as recommend agency approaches and tactics as part of the presentation


Professional Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years with progressive sales and new business development expertise
  • Must have a strong background in CPG Marketing
  • Experience in managing teams including: leadership, training and development
  • Previous experience with working in business development
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Outstanding people and presentation skills
  • Creative/strategic thinking skills
  • Proven track record of performance excellence in meeting targets
  • Experience with relevant software
  • Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to travel
