Martin Marietta Materials is seeking a motivated and skilled industrial Electrician. This position will be based in the Houston area and will provide support to all other Houston Recycled Concrete and Rail Yards. The primary function of the Electrician is to maintain, calibrate, perform trouble analysis, consult, research, and develop process control instrumentation for the purpose of obtaining optimum production efficiency.
This position services various plants within the greater Houston, TX and surrounding areas. Local travel required.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate all in-house electrical repairs and upgrades, including those related to plant controls for rail operations
- Troubleshoot AC / DC motor controls and drives
- Actively research potential upgrades and fine-tune existing operations to improve safety, efficiencies, plant capacities, consistency, availability and reporting
- Work closely with engineering group and outside contracted vendors to meet deadlines and complete capital improvement projects
- Support corporate safety culture and perform duties in compliance with all safety rules and regulations
- Lead by example on all MMM safety rules/procedures and MSHA compliance standards and ensure that all employees are following established safety policies and procedures
- Encourage employees to participate in Guardian Angel activities
Preferred Education and Experience
- 2-year technical degree in electrical or comparable experience preferred
- Certified / licensed Electrician preferred
- 2-5 years’ experience in aggregates or similar industry desired
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Outstanding vendor relations skills (internal and external contractors)
- Must be willing to be on call
- Working knowledge of high voltage electrical systems required
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, test instruments and electrical construction tools
- Experience with PLC’s a plus
- Work requires the ability to lift a maximum of 100 lbs
- Must be able to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend from trunk, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
- Work requires the ability to perform sustained overhead reaching
- Work requires the ability to use vibration tools
- Work requires the ability to perform work while lying on back for prolonged periods of time and in some cases cramped quarters
- Work requires the ability to work in areas with the potential for high noise levels
- Work is performed 90% outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather and 10% indoors
- Able to reason through difficult operations problems, resolve said problems and/or relate same to others
