Position Summary 
The primary responsibility of the Safety Lead is to proactively identify and address workplace hazards to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. The Safety Lead is expected to maintain a visible and active presence, engaging directly in safety initiatives and hands-on activities to promote a strong safety culture.

Primary Duties:
Reporting to the Safety Manager, the Safety Lead will cover the Phoenix area market during Ready-Mix working hours.
  • Conduct regular job site inspections to identify and address hazards or complaints promptly.
  • Provide task-specific training for equipment and safety protocols, including, but not limited to, loaders, man lifts, forklifts, confined spaces, lockout-tagout-tryout, truck spotting, and concrete pump safety.
  • Support RMI with training for new employees and drivers to ensure safe operations.
  • Assist and support Site Safety Service Representatives with job site evaluations and proactively recognize hazards.
  • Serve as a point of contact for workplace injuries/ incidents and assist with case management.
  • Perform safety inspections of concrete batch plants, mobile equipment, and ready-mix trucks to maintain compliance and safety standards.
  • Effectively collaborate with plant managers to proactively address and resolve safety hazards.
  • Timely monitor, review, and act on reports submitted through the Hazard Recognition Program.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings with the Sales and Safety Team.
  • Provide First Aid/ CPR training.
  • Assist managers in maintaining and organizing training documentation.
  • Support Safety Specialists with new hire orientation.
  • Participate in safety meetings and coordinate activities for the Safety Committee.
  • Conduct focused workplace exams weekly, report findings, or personally correct.
  • Organize and assist with daily tailgate and monthly safety meetings.

  2. Excellent time management/ self-management abilities, must be capable of developing day-to-day schedule and tasks 
  3. Technical expertise in mobile equipment operation, plant operation, and maintenance 
  4. Capable of identifying hazards, timely communication, or correct of all hazards
  5. Is a true believer in safety and has the right motivations 
  6. Ability to train one-on-one and on a larger scale
  7. Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED trainer certification
Minimum Education and Experience 
  1. High School Diploma and or GED 
  2. 1+ years of safety-related experience 
  3. 3-5 years of ready-mix experience preferred 
  4. OHST or CHST certifications preferred 
  5. Strong knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 
 
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, manual dexterity, repetitive motion, standing, sitting (must be able to sit for extended periods), walking, climbing stairs, bending and stooping, and the ability to drive. Work may be performed in all weather conditions - heat, cold, wet, or dry.  May have exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, etc.
