Repack - Assistant Production Supervisor

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Associate’s degree (preferred) in Manufacturing/Industrial Technology, Engineering or Business
  • Previous experience within a Supervisory role in a manufacturing environment may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Understand how to properly open and close facility, including proper start-up and shutdown of machinery
  • Responsible for facility safety, security and facilities upkeep/cleanliness, requesting facilities maintenance needs as they occur
  • Assign associates to utilize provided material and machinery to maximize productivity and minimize waste, eliminate cost
  • Understand and require associates to safely package material according to FDA, Quality and Customer-specific requirements
  • Support and meet production goals defined by Supervisor and Plant Manager
  • Maintain sufficient raw materials on the production floor to meet production schedules
  • Maintain accuracy of inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-process and finished goods
  • Maintain accuracy of all associated production and quality audit records
  • Demand a safe work environment for self and associates by reporting work-related safety issues to maintenance and plant management
  • Build a strong, efficient, well-trained production team, by providing feedback and training to the team on a daily basis
  • Conduct performance appraisals or disciplinary actions in a timely and effective manner, recognizing good performance and managing low performance, by coaching, mentoring, and developing associates in a positive manner, while providing rotations and back up to all positions
  • Seek out and suggest continuous improvements to production flow, cost initiatives, and safety
  • Maintain a good rapport with other areas within the company so that any issues can be resolved and improved
  • May be responsible for assisting to manage shift or plant in the Manager’s or Supervisor’s absence
  • Other duties or projects that may be required by manager
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
 
  • 3 years of previous work experience in a leadership role
  • 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing or packaging operation with proven positive and effective human resource management skills
  • Must be proficient in Excel and Word systems, with ability to navigate within complex spreadsheets and production schedules
  • Must possess fundamentals of employment and labor laws
  • Effective personal time management and strong oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Electronic Time/Attendance system experience
  • Production FDA standards and scheduling experience helpful
  • May be required to troubleshoot mechanical systems 
  • Maintain and blend dry additive needs supporting all Repack Production Requirements 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work environment/conditions
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
 
  • Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders, and be forklift certified
  • Work with strong fragrances, esters and in dust particulate environment and varying temperature changes
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull boxes, up to 45 pounds on a frequent basis and perform line audits or quality inspections as required
  • Frequent overtime work may be required with ability to work weekends and holidays to support business demands and scheduling
  • Must be able to work any assigned shift and assist with coverage as needed

Work will take place in various types of manufacturing environments. Employees may be required to work weekends, holidays and be on-call on occasion.  The employee may encounter controlled air conditions with frequent air changes and environmental exposure.
