Position Overview
As a member of Martin Marietta’s Operational Excellence team, the District Maintenance Superintendent adds value every day by leading people who are inspecting, repairing, maintaining, and improving the equipment used to transform sand, gravel, and crushed stone into useful building materials. Through the course of their work, the District Maintenance Superintendent encounters many opportunities to develop and demonstrate leadership skills as a leader of a small team and as an individual contributor who can work independently and exercise professional judgment to drive results. They go home at the end of each day safe, knowing they made a difference by using their skills to solve a problem or drive an improvement for someone.
Essential Functions For Success
- Demonstrate full engagement in Martin Marietta’s safety culture and lead others to do the same.
- Plan and organize the safe and timely completion of maintenance and repair projects
- Clearly and effectively communicate with others about current or future maintenance projects.
- Assess and develop Maintenance Technicians’ trade skills
- Demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and attention to detail.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with aggregate processing equipment including conveyors.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain aggregate processing equipment including conveyors.
- Recommend solutions for repairs or maintenance.
- Safely perform welding, cutting, grinding, drilling, and other tasks normally associated with metal fabrication.
- Conscientiously complete preventative maintenance work.
- Maintain work areas and work vehicles in a safe, organized condition at all times.
- Demonstrate a customer-focused mindset and a can-do attitude to do whatever it takes to set our operations up for success.
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certifications in welding, industrial maintenance, rigging, millwright or crane operation are a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a millwright or heavy industrial maintenance role
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with managing people and projects
- Ability to occasionally work extended hours and occasional Saturdays.
- Mechanical aptitude to understand the operation, maintenance, and common failures of aggregate processing equipment.
- A clean driving record and the ability to pass a DOT physical and get a CDL if needed.
- Ability to work underground or at heights.
- A desire for learning and growth
