We are seeking a college intern to join the Tax Department at our corporate headquarters office in Raleigh, NC.  The intern will support various managers within the Corporate Tax group.  This role will provide an opportunity to gain real-world tax experience within a dynamic and growing organization.  Contributions include various tax-specific and mining-specific calculations, coordinating jurisdictional filings, updating deadline calendars, documenting processes, manipulating ERP data, corresponding with departments of revenue, and various ad-hoc projects. This role is not remote and candidate will be expected to come into the office on their scheduled work days.
 
Skills prerequisites:
     Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting
     Highly proficient knowledge of MS-Excel
     Ability to research and learn independently
     Organized and detail oriented with ability to manage tasks and timelines
     Good written and verbal communication skills – ability to clearly articulate ideas and messages
     Perform all activities in accordance with the Company’s Mission, Vision, and Values, and in       compliance with the Company’s policies, procedures and Code of Ethical Business Conduct
What you can expect to gain in this role:
     Build familiarity with the day-to-day practices and processes of a dynamic corporate tax department
     Hands-on experience managing small projects from start to finish
     Networking with various departments within the company as well as external service providers
     Increase proficiency with MS Excel, MS Visio, Acrobat and various accounting tools
     Build familiarity with automation and process improvement
     Prepare federal/state/local tax returns for C-corps and partnerships
     Support management with various tax savings initiatives
     Process and document quarterly and annual tax filings and payments
     Information collection through ad-hoc reporting and tax package requests
     Draft responses to correspondence from various taxing authorities
     Create and maintain process flows and documentation for various tax calculations and processes
