What to expect:
Martin Marietta is seeking a Safety Representative to join our team. This individual will be responsible collaborating with many individuals in operations in the Florida market. The Safety Representative will handle the daily safety and health tasks required to support plant operations compliance. This includes safety and health administration, training, auditing and providing direction for location safety and health compliance.
In addition, the safety representative is responsible for assisting with training of current employees on Martin Marietta's Guardian Angel Safety Culture as established. Conduct facility safety audits primarily for MSHA sites, as well as some OSHA sites. Reviews & communicates injury & liability loss trends and root cause analysis to their assigned operations groups. The Safety Representative reports to the Safety Manager.
50% travel is required for this role
A typical day for a(n) Safety Representative may include:
· Scheduling and leading new hire orientation for all plant and mine hourly employees
· Performing plant inspections and conducting follow up sessions with plant leadership to address findings on a frequent basis
· Conducting Part 46 training at assigned quarries and mines
· Leading assigned local quarry and mine safety audits, tracking results, providing local leadership with continuous improvement options and following up on all action items monthly
· Leading and/or reviewing all local property damage analysis
· Leading or providing direction to all assigned location incident investigations
· Completing workers’ compensation administration based on company expectations for all assigned locations
· Completing all safety center administration on observations and near misses for all assigned locations
· Providing location leadership an update on safety audits, observations and near misses with follow up on all open action items monthly
· Assisting in the development of annual refresher training and participate in the training process
· Participating in the annual review Part 46 training plans and ensure compliance with MSHA regulations
· Coordinating annual SOMA Industrial Hygiene assessments and training for all locations
· Assisting in identification, analysis and control of occupational hazards requiring the application of hazard resolution
· Participating in developing department goals, objectives and systems
· Ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures
· Maintaining OSHA logs
· Performing all other related duties as assigned by Safety Manager
You may be a good fit if you:
· Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent experience
· Have 1-3 years of safety-related experience
· Possess ASP, OHST, or CHST certifications (preferred)
· Have extensive knowledge of MSHA Part-46 regulations
