POSITION PURPOSE    
As a LONG Controls Technician Intern, you will support Controls Technicians by helping with different phases of installation of a building automation system based on project specifications. You will help perform installation, warranty, emergency, and maintenance service on installed systems. Hours are M-TH 7am – 5:30pm with possible overtime.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with programing databases for all supported systems to meet specified sequences of operation and equipment manufacturers recommendations, in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents
  • Assist with the installation of control system devices and wiring in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents   
  • Assist with performing calibration and check-out of control systems and ensures that specified sequence of operations and commissioning obligations are met.
  • Assist the graphics coordinator and/or provide the labor and expertise for the preparation and delivery of graphical user interfaces when required for projects in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents
  • Panel fabrication
  • Light programming
  • Travel to job sites
  • Other duties as assigned 
 
QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to do so.   • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 18 years or older
  • Strong analytical skills in solving software and integration challenges.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
  • Some working knowledge of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation and construction procedures.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel to include department managers, project managers, engineers, sales, and controls technicians.
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Other duties as assigned  
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS    
  • Enrollment in Building Automation Educational Program or similar field of study strongly preferred

  • This work may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
  • Ability to climb ladders and function at heights.
