Elementary Band Director/Instrumental Music Teacher

Key Responsibilities:
(The primary tasks, functions and deliverables of the role)
- Directing the 4th and 5th Grade Bands
- Teaching group lessons to 4th - 8th grade students on woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments from beginner to intermediate levels
- Supporting the Middle and High School Band classes
- Directing school concerts as well as off-campus performances
- Preparing students for NYSSMA solo and ensemble festivals
- Supporting and sponsoring activities/events outside of the typical school day, including directing after-school ensembles and possible private lesson teaching
- Being a collaborative, contributing team member of the Fine Arts Department as well as the Lower School and Upper School divisions
- Growing professionally in order to meet the changing responsibilities of the position

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred; Music Education degree preferred
- Experience in teaching elementary music students in a school setting
- Experience in teaching woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments
- Experience in using technology in the music classroom
- Familiarity with curriculum design
- Ability to work well individually and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong writing skills
