What You'll Do

The Sr. Corporate Counsel provides legal services for Linden Lab in the company’s San Francisco headquarters, reporting to its General Counsel. You will advise Linden Lab’s executive team and employees on various legal issues relating to online entertainment products and services, conclude negotiations and draft related agreements, and assist in the operations of the company’s Legal department.
  • Manages and resolves the organization’s legal and business matters.
  • Negotiates and drafts agreements and contractual terms, including those related to creating and distributing online and mobile application experiences (such as end-user, software, procurement, and services agreements)
  • Structure deals for the promotion, production and licensing of digital media content.
  • Draft company policies, including consumer-facing privacy policies and Terms of Service.
  • Provides counsel on various legal concepts, practices, procedures and operations for virtual world and online entertainment products and services.
  • Advises the organization on regulatory aspects of virtual content and advertising.
  • Coordinates intellectual property portfolio, litigation and other matters, including overseeing matters handled by outside counsel.
  • Improves legal processes and procedures.

What You'll Need

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a top-tier ABA-accredited law school.
  • California bar membership in good standing.
  • 8+ years of experience with a law firm and/or multinational company. 
  • Seasoned at negotiating, structuring and drafting agreements and closing deals.
  • Experience with data protection and privacy, FinTech (payments and virtual tokens), intellectual property protection and enforcement, social network/online entertainment platforms, general corporate matters and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organization and multi-tasking skills.
  • Tech-savvy and able to learn Linden Lab’s products, services, technologies and business.
  • Superior business acumen; ability to use business context to generate creative, pragmatic legal solutions to achieve business objectives while mitigating risks.
  • Ability and desire to seek responsibility and work autonomously.
  • A passion for both in-house practice and the online entertainment industry.
  • Energy and a demonstrated desire to achieve.
