Environmental Manager

Operations Seymour, Indiana


Job Summary:

Reporting to EH&S Director, this Environmental Manager role is responsible for managing environmental programs at the Seymour site. This role is accountable for ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local environmental regulations as well as leading investigations and ensuring gaps found during internal or external reviews are closed. The role requires regulatory interpretation, technical leadership and some soft leadership skills, problem solving and attention to detail. The role will require frequent interactions with site engineering, maintenance, manufacturing operations, laboratory personnel, site leadership and other support functions.


• Manage Title V permit compliance processes and air permit evaluations.
• Manage wastewater discharge and pre-treatment system compliance systems.
• Manage storm water prevention plans and best management practices.
• Manage refrigerant/ozone depleting substance (ODS) compliance program.
• Manage spills, accidental discharge and emergency preparedness programs.
• Manage chemical inventory and release reporting compliance programs.
• Manage waste storage and disposal programs.
• Manage environmental permits for the site.
• Manage environmental training programs for site personnel.
• Maintain awareness of proposed environmental regulations and determine potential impact to site.
• Maintain environmental metrics for review by site EHS committee and Director of EHS.
• Perform inspections and reviews of existing environmental processes to identify gaps or areas for improvement.
• Investigate spills and other environmental compliance deviations to determine cause and develop countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
• Lead agency environmental inspections and correspondence.
• Assist with health and safety investigations and program implantation as needed. 

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree ( Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or Related Science)
• 5+ years of experience providing environmental compliance support for manufacturing site.
• Experience with Title V permits requirements.
• RCRA Hazardous waste regulations and wastewater pretreatment system requirements.

Specific Skills:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Power Point Applications
• Preferred experience with interactions with Federal and/or State regulators.
• Preferred experience with pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
• Preferred experience with NSPS and NESHAP regulations for boilers, generators and/or pharmaceutical production.
• Preferred WWTP Operators License.

Physical Requirements:

• Traditional office environment, with frequent walking to other areas of the facility, including production areas, loading docks, mechanical spaces and warehouse.
• Occasionally lift up to 50lbs.
