Product Development Technician Supervisor

The Product Development Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Product Development technicians who operate, clean, and maintain the batch manufacturing equipment and facility.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to, the following list.  Management retains the discretion to add or change job duties at any time.)

  • Supervisor is responsible to ensure batch manufacturing is completed correctly and efficiently including documentation.
  • Supervisor works with formulators to plan the batch schedule and makes resource assignments. Supervisor ensures readiness of equipment and materials.
  • Supervisor provides feedback to formulators as to commercial robustness of the manufacturing process.
  • Supervisor ensures that proper training is provided to direct reports whether training is internal or external.
  • Supervisor complies with and trains direct reports on all c-GMP's, SOP's, and Lannett policies pertinent to the job function.
  • Supervisor is responsible for the security of the DEA cage area and all transactions from the DEA cage.
  • Supervisor ensures all equipment is operated properly, cleaned, and maintained including preventative maintenance and calibrations.
  • Supervisor is responsible to ensure the facility is clean and maintained and that materials are stored correctly.
  • Other duties as assigned




  • Oversees all unit operations in the PD facility.
  • Ensures that the facility is properly locked and secured at the end of the scheduled work time.
  • Inputs on commercial viability of processes being developed.
  • Establishes training for PD technicians.
  • Reviews and writes applicable SOP'S.
  • Ensure that products are manufactured according to batch records.
  • Provides the required safety training.
  • Maintains tooling and equipment records.
  • Maintains material and inventory.
  • Coordinates ordering and material movement with Supply Chain and the warehouse.
  • Reviews time card entries






Have an understanding of interpersonal relationships.  Provide communication that facilitates interactions with both subordinates and managers.  Must interact with all departments necessary for the development of products.


Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has supervisory responsibilities as follows:  Directly supervise assigned staff.  Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, supervising and assisting work; involvement in hiring and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Must be able to pass a company paid background check to handle controlled substances.  Ability to follow and give directions.  Must have verbal and written command of the English Language.  Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.  BS degree in related field or suitable experience.
