Associate Director Project Management

The Associate Director, Project Management is responsible to lead and deliver successful product development and launch projects. The projects will include Gx product as well as Specialty products. The incumbent will work closely and lead cross functional teams comprised of internal resources as well as third party partners and will be accountable for all the milestones pertaining to a product life cycle. The AD, PM will be responsible for the effective resource planning, risk management and issues resolution/escalation as defined in the Project Management Model. He/she will be communicating regularly with senior leadership regarding product life cycle matters.  The AD, PM will mentor junior team members and may have PMs reporting directly to him/her.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with key stakeholders to initiate new product development projects, set timelines, coordinate meetings, identify and help to resolve obstacles, and escalate issues when necessary to support resource allocation and on-time project completion
  • Develop, manage and communicate project plans and other company tracking tools
  • Continuously evaluate the product portfolio in order to ensure proper prioritization
  • Communicate project objectives, deliverables, timelines, budgets and tasks to team members
  • Manage the deficiency tracking system and gap analysis program to ensure that action items are completed on time to support timely approvals
  • Work with the appropriate department head to develop project budgets, scope of work and risk assessments as part of the lifecycle management process
  • Review product proposals from contract organizations and act as the primary contact for defined projects; act as liaison between internal resources and vendors
  • Work with the keys stakeholders in Commercial and Operations, to prepare , maintain & coordinate the operational launch plan based on various inputs (commercial, regulatory, patents, suppliers, market and manufacturing sites).
  • Perform ongoing assessment of launch readiness risks, contingency planning & execution, and initiate any relevant activity required during the launch phase, in order to maintain launch timeline.
  • Present the projects in executive review forums
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities while facilitating team meetings to ensure the agenda is followed; coordinate follow-up on action items
  • Mentor and support junior team members
  • Contribute in pipeline strategy and product selection activities
  • Promote continuous improvement of key business processes, including training other functional areas in project management processes and activities as necessary
  • Support the Sr. Director, Project Management with capability building and business infrastructures development

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field requires, Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 12 years managing projects in the pharmaceutical industry.  Experience managing product development projects is required.  Experience in both the branded/specialty and generic sides of the industry is necessary.
  • Track record in leading New Product Introduction (NPI) activities
  • Experience in collaborating with third party partners (CDMO, CRO, etc.)
  • In depth understanding of the drug development process (Gx and Specialty)
  • In depth understanding of the pharmaceutical supply chain
  • Good understanding of the US market
  • Critical thinker, decisive and capable of developing pro-active and creative solutions to problems that arise in order to meet project timelines.
