Key Responsibilities:

 The Purchasing Supervisor will be responsible for managing both the direct and indirect material procurement teams for a multi-site organization.  These activities will include material planning, supply risks & shortages, evaluating suppliers, and identifying projects and tracking savings.  The candidate should also have knowledge and/or experience with supply agreements, negotiations, and standard purchasing metrics & objectives.  The procurement supervisor should be able to effectively manage and lead a small team of buyers/planners, advising on day-to-day activities and decisions, as well as identifying and driving the purchasing strategy.

 

The purchasing team is primarily located in Seymour, but this position will have responsibilities in all sites -- Seymour, Philadelphia, and Carmel, NY, with 80-90% of their time spent in Seymour and 10-20% spent at other sites or on supplier visits.  The Supervisor will help set goals for the department; monitor activities to assure the goals are met, and provide timely feedback on performance.  The position will assist with budget preparation and management and manage special projects assigned by management.

 Key Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have experience in day to day purchasing and planning procedures and inventory management via ERP software.  The candidate’s knowledge base should include material planning/forecasting, supplier negotiations, resolving supply risks and shortages, evaluating suppliers, identifying projects & tracking savings, and at least working knowledge of supply agreements.  This individual will also be expected to be able to take a “hands on” approach with the team and those required activities from time to time.  This position will also need to develop and maintain a strong cross-functional relationship with the production planning, operations, and engineering teams at the different sites.  He/she must also have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  The person in this position must be detail oriented, accurate and flexible.

Training or Experience:.

  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Must have proven negotiation experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Education:

  • S. degree in related field (Business, Finance, Engineering) with an MBA preferred
