JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:Service Technician I

GRADE:     N8

FLSA: Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT: 971

LOCATION:Regional Distribution Center 

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

The basic function of the Service Technician I is to inspect the product, assess concerns and return the product to manufacture specifications. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect product, assess concerns, and solve problems pertaining to La-Z-Boy product
  • Perform basic repair functions on furniture
  • Install aftermarket accessories to the product such as handles, bases ,swivels, etc.)
  • Ensure that product is customer ready by steaming fabric and checking for any quality concerns
  • Communicate with stores if customer’s concerns are a point of sale issue
  • Order parts necessary for repair of furniture
  • Complete any reports required regarding inspection and follow-up
  • Determining if furniture is repairable or if it must be replaced.
  • Communicate with corporate quality department regarding any quality issues that need to be addressed at the factory level
  • Maintain the service area to 5S standards ( neat, clean and organized)
  • Interface with store personnel as required
  • Minimal travel
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School graduate or trade school with courses in woodworking or comparable experience as apprentice, preferred
  • Experience with general upholstery repair, blind stitch, seam repair, padding, and leather repair, preferred
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Ability to successfully interface with customers
  • Self-management to demonstrate self-control and the ability to manage time and priorities
  • Must be able and willing to work collaboratively and effectively with the team
