Productivity Services Technician  - Mining Tire Group
Kal Tire’s Mining Division is a tire management service company that works on over 25 mining operations across Canada. We enable our customers to be productive and safe, helping them get the most out of their tires by maximizing equipment availability while ensuring a safe working environment at all times. Our business is expanding, and we are growing our Productivity Services team. Your role is to support our range of productivity tools on customer sites and identify opportunities for improvement.
The Productivity Services Technician plays a vital role within Kal Tire's Mining Tire Group (MTG), driving operational enhancements and tire performance improvements across mining operations. This position translates analytical insights from the Reliability Analyst into actionable field applications, managing technology solutions such as weigh scales, TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems), TireSight (formerly AIS), and conducting accelerometer studies, volumetric scanning, weight studies, and other productivity enhancements. By bridging strategic planning with operational execution, the Technician contributes to innovation and service excellence, setting industry standards while embodying Kal Tire's AIMS and Culture of Safety.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Support & Maintenance
  • Ensure optimal functionality of Kal Tire's technological systems in the field, including TireSight ,TPMS sensors, and associated systems.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting for hardware or software malfunctions, responding to alerts promptly.
  • Regularly inspect, maintain, and upgrade system components to minimize downtime and ensure durability, especially in varying climate conditions.
  • Assist in the assembly, testing, and deployment of new Kal Tire supported field systems.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Provide feedback on system designs and hardware placements to the Product Manager.
  • Collaborate with Reliability Analysts and on-site operations to address system issues and communicate directly with customer sites for setup, integration, and issue resolution.
  • Conduct training sessions for site teams on system purpose, value, and best practices.
  • Coordinate with Reliability Analysts and Condition Monitoring teams to ensure accurate and seamless integration of field data.
Technical Studies
  • Lead efforts in collecting precise field data from TireSight, TPMS sensors, Weigh Scale and Volumetric Studies, VBOX, and other relevant field systems, ensuring data integrity.
  • Calibrate all data collection tools and equipment as required for accuracy and reliability.
  • Facilitate field-based studies aimed at improving system performance or predicting maintenance requirements.
Continuous Improvement
  • Offer insights based on field experience to drive system development and improvement.
  • Relay client and site team feedback to management for product excellence.
  • Provide detailed field reports highlighting challenges, anomalies, or areas of interest for further analysis.
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • 2-3 years of technical support or field service experience, preferably in mining or related industries, with hands-on experience in mining or fleet management systems and sensors.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES     
  • Experience with Low Voltage electrical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently in varying climatic conditions and geographical terrains.
  • Excellent computer skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to obtain and maintain necessary licenses and certificates.
EDUCATION
  • Grade 12 or equivalent experience.
  • Technical diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Extensive travel across mining sites.
  • Valid driver’s license and quick technological aptitude.
  • Drone Pilot License and knowledge of TCP/IP, Wi-Fi networks, and Instrumentation controls are advantageous.
COMPENSATION 
  • The target salary range for this position is 71,000- 83,000 per year based on experience
  • Overtime pay is eligible
