J. Walter Thompson INSIDE is seeking a collaborative, thought-leading Senior Business Development and Marketing Director in its New York Office. This person will be responsible for identifying, pursuing and managing new business and marketing activities for the J. Walter Thompson INSIDE national network.


  • Help to define and evolve agency new business and marketing strategy
  • Collaborate with agency leadership to help identify and guide appropriate pitch teams as well as ongoing new business and marketing efforts
  • Provide strong collaboration with all functions, including account, creative and social in order to identify and create new business, marketing and pitch materials
  • Organize and manage the RFP process, meetings, presentations, internally and externally
  • Proactively identifying new business
  • Develop and maintain a prospect database
  • Research, analyze and monitor financial, technological and demographic factors to capitalize on new market/business leads and opportunities
  • Able to prioritize leads, make warm calls; create short introductory presentations of the agency; and make an impact with client prospects
  • Become a thought leader in the employer branding space
  • Attend networking events, including presence at conferences, trade shows
  • Manage of a small Business Development and Marketing team of 1-2 direct reports
  • Forge strong connections across all J. Walter Thompson business units and work to identify partnership opportunities across the network
  • Proven track record of winning new business


  • Ten or more years of experience in advertising/marketing developing new business strategies
  • Dynamic presenter
  • Strong planning and organizing skills
  • Personal resilience and appetite for growth
  • Outstanding communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Creative thinking and resourceful problem-solving skills
  • Ability to deal with fast paced work environment and to make decisions with limited information at times
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with colleagues in order to achieve results
  • Ability to interface with client prospects with credibility and confidence
  • Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret information from a variety of sources, such as trade journals, marketing audits, research reports, white papers and survey data
  • Ability to write reports, presentations and general business correspondence
