Position Summary:

 The accountant is responsible for a wide variety of month-end tasks and processing payroll for the company. In this position you will evaluate current processes and procedures; participate in brainstorming sessions, make recommendations and implement solutions to improve efficiencies. Opportunity to develop and analyze various standard and ad-hoc financial and operational reports for executive management team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Play a vital role in the monthly accounting close process, including ownership of all accounting for fixed assets, prepaid expenses and payroll accounts. Prepare and post journal entries
  • Responsible for accurate processing and recording of company’s payroll, including 401(k) and benefits
  • Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts including payroll, fixed assets, and prepaid expenses. Opportunity to grow into other work streams over time including bank reconciliations and other corporate duties
  • On a monthly basis, prepare schedule of flight crew pass through salaries and benefits expenses
  • Partner with Human Resources to ensure the accuracy of payroll information input into the general ledger; prepare and record all accounting related to payroll
  • Assist with company year-end audit, including providing all necessary information related to payroll accounts, fixed assets and prepaid expenses for the external auditors
  • Prepare month-end reports for Company locations
  • Research and resolve accounting issues
  • Prepare and file various federal and state reports required by regulatory agencies including customs, sales & use tax and property tax
  • Assist with department-wide process improvement, design, documentation, testing and implementation
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience in Great Plains and ADP is preferred, but not required
  • High attention to detail and very strong organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, strong knowledge of Excel required
  • Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Self-motivated and independent problem-solving ability
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Education & Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • 0-2 yeas experience in accounting
  • 1 year public accounting preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Majority of work is completed in a normal office work environment
  • Communicate through verbal, written and electronic means
  • Operate office equipment such as telephone, computer, printer, fax, postage meter, etc.
  • Move up to 25 pounds on an infrequent basis
  • Access filing cabinets, drawers and shelves of varying heights
