POSITION DESCRIPTION:   
Under the general direction of the Associate Winemaker, the Harvest Enologist will provide winemaking, technical, cellar and supervisory support to the winemaking team.  Specific duties of this position include but are not limited to: assisting with writing work orders, monitoring fermentations, and inventory control.     
   
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:   
  • Work with Cellarmaster and production team on daily cellar activities
  • Understanding and implementing various winemaking protocols and techniques
  • Review harvest SOPs (additions, yeast rehydration, pump overs etc.)
  • Training and supervising seasonal staff as needed.
  • Monitoring and managing primary fermentation, juice and wine racks.
  • Interpreting daily lab analysis and reports
  • Following daily quality control checks and protocols
  • Participate in data collection and summary.
  • Provide data entry support.
  • Participate in sensory analysis of quality control.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
   
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:   
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Enology, Fermentation Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field. Three years’ experience in laboratory/wine production required.  Supervisory experience and knowledge of current viticulture research and literature preferred. The qualified candidate will be well organized detail oriented and possess strong analytical skills. The capacity to work independently and with others at all levels of the organization is required.    
Intermediate to advanced computer skills in Word and Excel are required. Spanish language skills are desired but not required.  The willingness to work extended hours and various shifts is expected during the harvest season.  The position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, occasionally reach with hands and arms, occasionally sit, walk, climb, stoop, or kneel, as well as be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.    
   
Wage Transparency:    
The base pay for this role ranges from $22-$26  per hour. Compensation will be determined by candidate experience, skills, and location.
