Ziff Davis is looking for an VP, Advertising Operations for our Ziff Davis Media Group (ZMG) based out of our New York office to ensure that our highly successful brands in the
Tech, Lifestyle, and Shopping verticals continue to optimise across revenue operations to ensure maximum revenue yield and delivery of campaigns for our partners. Our leading brands include Mashable, PCMag, Offers.com, and AskMen.

This role is key in ensuring we remain at the forefront of publisher monetization strategies and utilizing appropriate working practices and technologies.

Responsibilities:  

  • Ensure ZMG advertising operations is optimized organisationally for campaign management, programmatic direct management, third party revenue and yield & analysis
  • Lead a team of five direct ad ops reports across our brands with a team total of fourteen staff based in NYC.
  • Continually identify and implement opportunities for improvement within team processes, supporting systems and communication channels. 
  • Motivate and develop team members to strive for excellence, building interdepartmental relationships, and working towards continuous team improvement. Create mission and purpose across advertising operations via strong direct management skills and mentoring of indirect reports.
  • Act as an ambassador of ad operations across Ziff Davis. Work with senior leads in other teams to raise visibility, continually educate teams on recent development and building advocacy across the company.
  • Deliver weekly reporting to key stakeholders regarding the efficiency of inventory usage, yield, eCPM, sellthrough, viewability and other agreed KPIs.
  • Be responsible for the ZMG ad ops expenditure budget – staff costs, software licences, freelance costs, share of revenue management.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with third parties in area that directly affect publishers such as viewability, ad blocking and other third party monetization-related vendors.
  • Work with ZMG sales leadership to ensure a smooth and effective relationship with our sales teams that maximises our potential for campaign planning, optimization and reporting. Set and agree parameters for escalation and resolution.
  • Work with our Partner Site management team to develop further knowledge and new possibilities of our inventory on our ZMG Network partner sites.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify, schedule and be responsible for key engineering programs that benefit our brands’ revenue and efficiency.
  • Understand and implement how our first party data segments can inform our campaigns.
  • Ensure that all stakeholders receive feedback in prescribed timeframes. 
  • Ensure the ad ops teams track, monitor and follow up with stakeholders on RFPs and proposals and ensure fulfilment and delivery of proposals; quickly resolve issues when they arise.
  • Develop knowledge of market needs and possibilities – new ad executions, partners, industry trends, threats and opportunities.

Requirements:  

  • Extensive experience of Advertising Operations at a senior level.
  • Hands-on knowledge of ad serving systems and advertising tracking technologies.
  • A strong understanding of digital; especially the role that ad ops plays and a critical point of view on the various organisational structures and working practices that can be employed to deliver success.
  • A passion for all things digital, including a good understanding of industry trends and web technology developments and how they can be used to deliver category-defining media solutions.
  • An ability to demonstrate getting the best out of people; including hands-on management, coaching and inspiration of a more junior team.
  • A strong work ethic; able to work under pressure, meet deadlines and deliver results 
  • Well-developed organizational and project management skills to ensure you can keep on top of your own and others’ workload.
  • Fine-tuned communication, presentation and influencing skills; with an ability to think creatively and present in a manner that inspires and excites.
