Ziff Davis seeks a highly-motivated, detail-oriented, team player to serve as counsel to some of the Digital Media business units. Some of our brands include: IGN, Humble Bundle, Ookla, Mosaik, Spiceworks, Ziff Davis B2B. The candidate should be diligent and proactive, demonstrate excellent legal and business judgment, and be able to interface effectively with business teams.


Experience working on technology and digital media contracts, along with a working knowledge of advertising law, copyright and other intellectual property rights is critical. Experience with privacy and data use issues is preferred.


This is a full-time position located in our San Francisco office.



        Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, including insertion orders, NDAs, licensing agreements, publishing agreements, content creation and distribution agreements, vendor agreements, and terms of service.

        Provide pragmatic, effective legal advice to business team members on a wide array of business and contractual matters.

        Provide advice on content creation pre-publication including copyright and fair use.

        Support the legal team with ongoing and special initiatives, including data privacy compliance, M&A due diligence, template development, and contests and sweepstakes.


        Minimum of 2 years as a practicing attorney in a law firm and/or comparable in-house legal department

        Excellent communication and organizational skills, including drafting and negotiation skills

        Experience working at or for digital media companies and on IP matters, specifically trademark and copyright matters

        Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced work environment

        Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to maintain strong working relationships with internal clients

        Sound and practical business acumen including flexibility, creativity and good judgment in balancing legal risks with business needs
