Editorial New York, New York

Position at Mashable

The Details

Mashable's Science team is seeking an enthusiastic, nimble editorial fellow to work at its New York City headquarters for Spring 2020. The fellow will have the chance to write stories across a broad range of topics for the section, which focuses on climate change, sustainability, and the environment.

This day to day:

  • Taking on 1-2 stories per day.
  • Writing a variety of stories, ranging from breaking science news to longer features and evergreens, with daily deadlines.
  • Researching science stories and fact-checking your colleagues’ work.
  • Collaborating with other members of the team throughout the newsroom.
  • Contributing original story ideas.
  • Indulging your passion and curiosity for a particular scientific topic.

  • Minimum availability of 30 hours per week (this is a full-time fellowship)
  • Based in NYC
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Creative ideas Mashable has never seen before
  • Solid news writing skills and a critical eye
