Ziff Davis is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Manager of  Platform Operations to drive and deliver revenue enhancing content strategies for the Tech and Commerce business unit. The role will be focused on developing commerce strategies and overseeing the day to day operations while also influencing company-wide decisions. This role will work closely with the Tech and Commerce business unit leadership, editorial, email and product teams. The goal for the role is to grow the commerce business of multiple Ziff Davis properties. The role will be based in either New York or Montreal and report to the VP and Head of Platform Operations.


  • Develops commerce strategies for ZDTC portfolio brands:
    • Identifies short to long term content monetization opportunities around deals, email, and search-focused editorial.
    • Creates a framework for production, performance tracking and optimization.
    • Works with the Project Management leads to see through the execution of the strategy at the brand level and provide status reports back to management 
  • Opportunity Identification-Conducts Product/vertical Sizing:
    • Conducts In-depth research of product verticals commerce content topics worth pursuing by brand based on Search volume, Competition, Topic Relevance and Product Category monetization opportunity
  • Develops commerce content production calendars for ZDTC  properties:
    • Works with the relevant stakeholders (SEO, BI, Partner Team) to complete a robust content production guide to assist the editorial team’s production
    • Works with the Partner Team to identify “must-include” merchants and relevant brands available via affiliate networks
    • Update the “Monthly Unified Production” document with relevant recommendations, examples and guidelines for edit
    • Supports commerce editors with potential questions/request during production
    • Oversees early quality control audits to make sure guidelines were followed and that content is ready to be promoted
    • Coordinates promotional  activities with relevant stakeholders (Editorial, Social, Content Marketing) to boost traffic and backlink profile of new content
  • Develops Content Update Strategies & Guidelines:
    • Identifies content optimization opportunities based on (but not limited to):
      • User CTR - updating the product listing, merchandising based on performance data such as clicks, orders, rpc
      • Keyword additions based on traffic/seo reports
      • Layout updates based on user engagement (if above or below average)
      • Seasonal needs (ie: updating merchandising based on the time of year and relevance
      • Placement or merchant opportunities 
  • Assists Commerce Placement/Merchant Teams:
    • Helps guide the Partner Team on the prospection of new business
    • Provides valuable insights and data on potential affiliate/paid campaign opportunities


  • At least 2-3  years of experience managing e-commerce and affiliate marketing at an online publication
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management or marketing a minimum
  • Strong understanding of Search Engine Optimization
  • Extensive experience with digital analytics platforms like  Google Analytics, Omniture, comScore, etc.
  • Extensive experience with data analysis, using tools like Excel and Google sheets.
  • Experience building data visualizations with tools like Tableau, an asset
  • Entrepreneurial, Detail oriented and organized
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
