Job Summary:  

The Associate Director, Web Marketing will be a key member of a dynamic j2 Cloud Backup team. 

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Marketing, the successful candidate will call upon their past successes with digital advertising, website management, and customer/prospect engagement to actively drive new customer acquisition and retention for multiple brands including SugarSync®.

The successful candidate will leverage their deep marketing experience to lead a team of experienced marketing professionals responsible for brand strategy, demand generation & capture, retention, lifetime value, and analytics.

Job Duties:  

  • Organize. Develop, define and drive marketing strategy, positioning, and messaging for j2 Global®’s Cloud Backup lines.
  • Manage programs (and their budgets). Manage a marketing budget to efficiently generate online signups through a variety of marketing activities, including but not limited to: SEM, websites, SEO, affiliates, social media and other appropriate channels.
  • Lead your team and beyond. Grow, lead, develop, and motivate a team of direct reports to do their best work in support of key marketing objectives. Collaborate with and influence other teammates to share best practices, lessons learned, and foster comradery.
  • Measure and test. Track the effectiveness of programs both quantitatively and qualitatively to drive constant improvement. Run constant testing (A/B and/or multivariate) under control. Engage with senior management to share all pertinent results. 
  • Be a guru. Become the subject matter expert, internally and externally, and leverage that to evangelize programs and direction and advocate resources.
  • Understand our customers. Translate customer needs across a range of consumer and SMB environments into clear value propositions and actionable marketing programs.
  • Evolve and Fine tune. Leverage tools to the fullest extent and identify opportunities for action based on empirical evidence and intuition. Develop plans for assessing opportunities, their measurement, proof of promise, timeline, and definitions of success. And, enact those plans.
  • Roll up your sleeves. Lead, manage, and do with an entrepreneurial spirit yet refined discipline.

Job Requirements and Experience:  

  • 8+ years of successful digital marketing experience in dynamic and growing organizations in internet, storage, SaaS, or other recurring revenue-focused businesses.
  • 2+ years of experience in a management role and 3+ years of experience running large scale search marketing (SEM).
  • Dynamic leadership style; ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams spread across multiple locations.
  • Proficient in Adwords and Bing interfaces as well as analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
  • Extensive, hands-on knowledge of relevant processes and tools including CMS, A/B testing, bid management, marketing automation, and reporting/visualization tools.
  • Meticulous, analytical and detail-oriented with ability to deliver data-driven results, analysis, testing and application of findings.
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success with customer acquisition, funnel tuning, SEO, retention, customer/user engagement, and save programs.
  • MBA preferred.
