Job Summary: 

The Director of Marketing will be a key member of the global Email Security management team and reports to the VP, j2 Email Security and is responsible for driving revenue and profit growth for a successful suite of email security services, including our brands FuseMail® and Excel Micro™.

The successful candidate will leverage their deep marketing experience—displayed in a history of successful ecommerce ventures—to build and lead a team of experienced marketing professionals responsible for brand strategy, demand creation, lead management, sales support, online conversion, monetization, retention, lifetime value, and analytics. The person will be responsible for driving the adoption and success of our email security product portfolio, through positioning, messaging, pricing and sales enablement. Specific responsibilities are as follows:

Job Duties: 

  • 12+ years successful integrated marketing experience in dynamic and growing organizations in internet, storage, email, SaaS, or other recurring revenue businesses.
  • Domain experience in SaaS security, storage, cloud service provider, or enterprise IT. Background in the internet security software space a plus.
  • Develop business plans to drive customer acquisition, revenue growth and profitability of a portfolio of email security products and services in partnership with our Sales and Channel organizations.
  • Develop, define and drive marketing strategy, positioning, and messaging /hierarchy for j2 Global®’s email security product line.
  • Leverage a marketing budget to efficiently generate sales through a variety of marketing activities, including but not limited to: search, web presence, media and list buys, partnerships, PR, social media and other appropriate channels.
  • Grow, lead, develop, and motivate a team of direct reports to do their best work in support of key marketing objectives.
  • Measure the effectiveness of programs both quantitatively and qualitatively to drive constant improvement and ensure transparency of results to senior management. 
  • Create a go-to-market strategy to successfully launch new products and solutions into the product segment and lead the successful execution of this plan.
  • Become the subject matter expert, internally and externally, by evangelizing and advocating for the product.
  • Translate customer needs across a range of SMB and channel environments into clear value propositions and actionable marketing programs.
  • Define product pricing and offers for products and solutions that optimize revenue generation.
  • Create the core marketing content and sales tools needed to reach our prospects with a consistent and relevant message.
  • Work collaboratively with other groups such as; Business Units, Creative, Sales, Customer Service, Product Management, and Engineering to develop and execute on plans.
  • Ability to develop a strong and productive relationship with Field Sales and Inside Sales organizations.

  • Analytical thinker with the ability to discover hidden insights or complex patterns through a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for quickly coming up to speed on new technology concepts and leveraging them to develop innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams, effective project management and analytical/decision-making skills.
  • Ability to develop a strong and productive relationship with Sales organizations.
  • A track record of success in opening new markets and achieving sizable lead generation/conversion objectives.
  • Extensive, hands-on knowledge of relevant processes and tools for lead generation and management, including search engines, list procurement, Saleforce.com, marketing automation, and reporting tools.
  • Established track record of building compelling positioning and messaging for complex products or businesses
  • Strong analytical skills with an aptitude for translating quantitative and qualitative data into actionable plans
  • Excellent organizational and presentations skills and an ability to successfully interact across functions and at all levels of an organization
  • Experience with marketing business-to-business and/or technology products, targeting IT, enterprise or SMB audiences
  • Brand Management: brand strategy, portfolio management, trademark protection.
  • Awareness/Demand Creation: advertising, direct mail, public relations, social media.
  • Lead Management/Nurturing: Salesforce.com, call center integration.
  • Customer retention: usage stimulation, lifecycle engagement, save programs.
  • Budgeting/reporting: signups, cancellations, costs, revenue, trend/ROI analyses.
  • Ability to develop a strong and productive relationship with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Finance organizations.
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Dynamic leadership style; ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams spread across multiple offices.
  • MBA preferred.
