We manage tens of petabytes of data across Europe and the US. Our top-flight team of engineers is constantly working to improve the design and operation of our platforms, and to automate deployments and management of the servers and network.

We are looking for a DevOps engineer to join our UK Operations team of Sysadmins, NetOps and DevOps engineers supporting, maintaining and improving infrastructure in Europe and US. You will be responsible for continuing the adoption of cutting-edge automation and configuration management tools and ensuring our infrastructure meets our SLAs.


Job Duties:  

  • Day to day operations of servers (mostly Linux with some Windows) and application support.
  • Tier 3 support for systems supporting proprietary backup platforms, including haproxy, keepalived, Apache, IIS, MySQL, LDAP and Active Directory
  • Scripting (bash/python/PHP) for automation of regular maintenance and monitoring tasks
  • Helping the team to plan and prioritise projects and tasks, ensuring requests from internal customers (e.g. Support and Sales teams) are also handled in a timely manner
  • Mentor junior members of the team.
  • Working with other DevOps engineers to continue the process of automating deployments and configuration management
  • Working with the other Operations teams globally to ensure knowledge sharing and collaboration
  • Some out-of-hours “on-call” work will be required. The job will also require working in a datacentre environment in London as and when needed.

Job Requirements and Experience:  

  • 2+ years’ working in a data centre environment, managing and maintaining physical servers
  • 3 years’ Linux (preferably CentOS) SysAdmin experience
  • 3+ years’ scripting experience in at least one of: Bash, Python, PHP
  • 3+ years’ Windows SysAdmin experience
  • In-depth understanding of storage (RAID levels, pros and cons of different filesystems) is essential.
  • Understanding of networks – switching, firewalls, static routing, and awareness of dynamic routing technologies would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with automation/deployment tools (e.g. chef/puppet) including source control (e.g. git / svn).
  • Virtualisation experience (VMWare, HyperV, KVM)
