Web Marketing Manager (SEO)

Job Summary:

As the Web/SEO Marketing Manager for Backup, you will shape and support our web strategy for enterprise websites.  This role reports to the Direct of B2B Marketing for Backup.  You will be responsible for day-to-day web changes to maximize the volume of inbound organic traffic from search engines to a website. This is accomplished through a combination of on-page and off-page techniques, including link-building, social media strategy, metadata sculpting, site speed optimization, content strategy, information architecture, and more. You will work closely with marketing teammates and cross-functional groups to create an optimal online experience for every stage of the sales and acquisition funnel. You will support the development of content that is consistent with our brand and key messages as well as efforts to test those messages and online elements. We’re looking for a flexible, team player who has experience with online marketing in support of our SMB and Enterprise Backup markets.  You should be familiar with how business professionals engage with business sites in all environments, including mobile.  The ideal candidate is an analytical, energetic and a strategic problem solver with web and SEO experience supporting a B2B market.

Job Duties:

  • Become the internal subject matter expert for web optimization and SEO strategies and tactics
  • Review and analyze analytics and site traffic to gauge positive and negative changes
  • Develop and implement strategies that increase organic traffic , leads and conversions
  • Drive website redesign or development for more search-friendly content
  • Conduct A/B and multivariate testing in support CRO objectives
  • Find ways to improve site structure, crawling, and indexation
  • Create scalable and effective link building campaigns
  • Troubleshoot website code to determine and repair errors
  • Review and analyze competitor sites to understand their web, SEO/SEM, link building, content marketing and social strategies.
  • Keep pace with SEO, search engine, social media and internet marketing industry trends for all online vehicles
  • Perform keyword research to optimize existing content and uncover new opportunities
  • Provide SEO analysis and recommendations in coordination with elements and structure of websites and web pages
  • Provide recommendations and execute strategies for content development in coordination with SEO goals
  • Administer search engine programs (XML sitemaps, webmaster tools) for purposes of diagnostic reporting
  • Help to create and support marketing content to socialize and use for social media purposes (e.g. customer videos briefs, customer case studies, blog posts, etc.)
  • Assist in development and execution of communication/content strategies via social communities
  • Keep pace with SEO, search engine, social media and internet marketing industry trends and developments
  • Research and administer social media tools in support of social media strategy
  • Monitor and administer web analytics dashboards, reports and key reporting tools, and point out key areas of importance
  • Monitor and evaluate search results and search performance across the major search channels
  • Communication to team and management on project development, timelines, and results

Job Requirements and Experience:

  • BA/BS degree, preferably in Marketing, Communications or a technical field
  • 5+ years of experience managing websites, preferably in Backup, Cloud or SaaS environments
  • 5+ years’ experience in SEM, SEO and website management
  • Passion for SEO and overall internet marketing
  • Proficient with tools such as Omniture, Optimizely, Site Catalyst, WebTrends, Test & Target, Unbounce, Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, project management and time management skills
  • Excellent on-page and off-page skills
  • Proven experience directly managing websites both with and without CMS – specific experience with WordPress and SiteFinity.
  • Proven experience with taking a website from conception through planning, design, development, test, launch, and optimization.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to deliver data-driven results, analysis, testing and application of findings.
  • Very strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other MS Office software
  • A detailed understanding of HTML and CSS
  • The ability to work with back-end SEO elements such as .htaccess, robots.txt, metadata, site speed optimization, and related skills
  • Proven success in link building and viral strategies
  • The ability to deploy an effective local and long-tail search strategy
  • A deep understanding of mobile strategy and how it relates to SEO
  • A solid grasp of how blogging, social media, and related strategies go hand-in-hand with SEO
  • Experience in building inbound organic search traffic and improving SERPs
  • A background in creating reports showing web analytics data and site evaluations
  • An up-to-date, working knowledge of current, past, and projected trends in the SEO industry
  • Examples of specific SEO skills to have:
    • keyword strategy and reporting, competitive backlink analysis, link building strategy, anchor link analysis, keyword usage/density, overall page functionality, site architecture, canonical, social media account management, knowledge of directories & citations, Google Analytics & Webmaster tools, landing page strategy , SEO best practices, etc.
