Description

IGN is seeking a Director, Social Content & Strategy with a deep knowledge of the social media landscape and video strategy and a love for entertainment and video game content. This position is based in our San Francisco office, and requires experience managing a team of content creators with focus on social and video content. This person will be directly responsible for the growth, reach, and health of all of IGN’s social channels - including but not limited to Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, and Instagram.  Experience working in online media or TV preferred, with focus on games, movie, TV, and comics coverage verticals.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct a team of social content creators, with heavy focus video production and story-telling strategy
  • Work with editorial staff to develop social-optimized coverage plans and execute according to best practices
  • Lead social strategy and growth for the organization
  • Cooperatively conceive and organize new programming to increase viewership across multiple social platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and Twitter
  • Create and implement reaction and participation strategies to capitalize off of trends and tent pole events
  • Oversee final products, publishing, and syndication practices and social workflow
  • Interface with sales and integrated marketing teams to provide ideation, direction, and feedback for socially-intended branded content
  • Develop social content strategies and coverage for industry events such as E3, SDCC, PAX, SXSW, movie premieres, game launches, and more - both onsite and remotely.
Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of management experience
  • 5-7 years of video production, editorial, or social media experience
  • A strong understanding of analytics, including the ability to identify trends, and how to best develop content in response
  • Ability to lead and manage a team, delivering feedback on content and performance in support of personal growth, while always working well with others in a collaborative, team environment
  • Experience in covering events and tentpole moments with quick turnaround and accuracy
  • A positive, problem-solving attitude
  • Strong understanding and experience working with creators, influencers, and online personalities
  • Passion for IGN, video games, movies, and TV

It would be extra awesome if you had…

  • High-level experience working directly with social media companies
  • Experience working with communities and influencers
  • Worked on social “stories” products, branded content, or other premium content formats
  • Hands-on experience with project management software such as Trello, Basecamp, etc. to track creative projects.
  • Strong understanding of emerging trends, social tools, and practices
  • Experience as social media leader at a TV, entertainment- or game-centric media company
