Primary Responsibilities:


  • Perform duties to provide metallurgical test and analysis on Ramset product including raw material, manufactured or purchased product through use of random sampling techniques. Work from prints, specifications, tables, written and verbal instructions.
  • Understand machine capabilities for new product development and continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing processes.
  • Set up and operate precision testing equipment to test metallurgical properties of the product.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, problems, and opportunities for improvement in areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Develop and maintain quality policies/procedures to improve product quality assuring and overseeing timely implementation.
  • Evaluate manufacturing/customer complaints determining cause and instituting permanent corrective actions with disposition of Non-Conformity products.
  • Set up and operate precision testing equipment to test metallurgical properties of the product.
  • Prepare (mount) specimens, take micro-hardness and Rockwell hardness readings, analyze structures and detect and report undesirable properties.
  • Coordinates regulatory programs to assure company is within the scope of ICC/PPI requirements.
  • Provide regular training for all employees on our quality system and plant Goals.
  • Keep abreast of technology trends, investigate, and install most effective methods of manufacturing to keep company competitive.
  • Implement and share manufacturing best practices internally and externally and assure implementation.
  • Uses micrometer, calipers, scales, optical comparators, tensile testers, gage blocks, hardness testers, attribute gages, weight scales, microscopes, metallurgical equipment, indicators, level plates and measuring devices.
  • Use and maintain cut-off wheels, grinders, polishers, chemicals, mounts making machines, micro hardness testers, Rockwell hardness tester, microscope, photomicrograph equipment, metallography, ultra-sonic cleaner and other related equipment


  • Utilizing ITW Toolbox training, identify and lead changes using 80/20, Inlining, USa, Product Line Simplification, and Market Rate of Demand tools as appropriate.
  • Perform capacity planning and provide solutions to meet continued growth. 
  • Manage capital projects from quoting/approval stage through training & implementation.
  • Support maintenance in root cause analysis, strategies to reduce mechanical downtime, and drafting and implementing preventive maintenance practices.


  • Develop, test, and implement process adjustments and/or new manufacturing techniques to reduce manufacturing costs and waste, and to improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and machine reliability.
  • Lead change through facilitating Kaizen Events, writing standard operating procedures, and training key production employees on new work procedures and processes. 


  • Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Design and/or source support equipment for more efficient and less costly manufacturing methods. Manage equipment purchases from vendor identification to implementation.
  • Design simple to moderately complex fixtures and guarding for production equipment.      
  • Perform other tasks and functions as directed for the benefit of the business.          

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in business or technical field in Chemistry, Engineering, Industrial Technology or related, required.
  • 5+ years of continuous improvement experience in fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in product mechanical performance testing is required, with preference given to experience in Quality Control of the mechanical fastening systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude to understand the production process and performance inspection/testing. Ability to understand the use of measurement tools and testing machines.
  • Basic knowledge of statistics is preferred.  Able to learn and understand basic statistics (Control Charting, SPC, Cpk, Cp, Std. Dev, etc.). Ability to handle moderately complicated math formulas.

  • Must be well organized, detailed oriented, and able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work with hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations
  • Self-starter with a lot of energy to see projects through to completion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis
  • Familiar with AutoCAD or Solidworks
  • Able to drive forklift.
