Description

IREX seeks a Program Associate for its Leadership Practice to provide support to the Community Solutions Program, a professional fellowship and leadership development program funded by the U.S. Department of State. Participants age 25-38 from 87 countries complete a four-month practicum and leadership development course in the United States before returning home to implement community development projects. The Program Associate will support all aspects of the program lifecycle.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advise program participants and liaise with host organization representatives and volunteers;
  • Represent the program to external partners during phone calls and in-person meetings and events;
  • Serve as an active connector for the program’s network of participants, alumni, hosts, and volunteers;
  • Contribute to the program’s communications efforts, including posting on social media, developing success stories, and writing program reports;
  • Support the recruitment and selection of participants and practicum host organizations;
  • Assist in matching participants with practicum host organizations;
  • Coordinate event logistics and make travel bookings;
  • Support participants through the pre-arrival administrative process;
  • Contribute to program monitoring, evaluation, and learning efforts;
  • Assist with financial tracking, procurement, payment processing, and credit card reconciliation; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required; Master’s degree in international education, international relations, international development, intercultural communication, leadership, or another relevant field preferred.
  • Experience providing administrative support in an office setting and experience studying, working, or volunteering internationally preferred;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and networking ability Experience supporting alumni relations preferred;
  • Experience advising international students, scholars, or fellows preferred;
  • Demonstrated commitment to international education or professional development programming;
  • High level of intercultural competence including familiarity with the culture and language of one or more of the 87 countries eligible for the Community Solutions Program preferred;
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting monitoring and evaluation data;
  • Excellent organizational and coordination of event skills and ability to adhere to strict deadlines;
  • Professional social media skills, including Facebook and Twitter or experience implementing a professional social media campaign;
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce, Formstack, SurveyMonkey, Power BI, and InterviewStream preferred;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; experience supporting workshops or speaking in front of large audiences; and
  • Foreign language skills in both written and oral a plus;
