We are looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join our Accounting team in Bangalore, India, reporting to the director of Global Tax. In this role, you will work on indirect U.S. tax reporting and reconcile and analyze monthly sales and use tax returns. What you’ll do:
- Manage indirect U.S. tax reporting, including using a combination of internal and external advisor resources to get required U.S. sales and use tax calculations updated, returns filed, property tax and franchise tax returns prepared and filed
- Reconcile the sales and use tax returns and workpaper prepared by external advisors on a monthly basis
- Analyze and reconcile sales and use tax accounts monthly
- Handle/assist sales and use tax audits and notices
- Manage, respond to, and resolve state and local tax inquiries
- Work with customers as required
- Prepare Canada GST filing
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to process tax payments/refunds
- Assist with requests on U.S. income tax compliance
- Assist with a variety of special projects as needed
What you’ll bring:
- 5+ years of combined tax-related experience with a multinational company and/or a public accounting firm
- Current knowledge of U.S. sales and use tax, property tax, and state nexus
- Outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Flexible roll-up-your sleeves, hands-on attitude and ability to thrive in a rapidly changing, dynamic work environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of tax-exemption certificates
- Microsoft Office skills required, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Experience with large a ERP system, preferably Oracle, and how it works in conjunction with Vertex’s suite of products, preferred
- Experience with sourcing and taxability of SaaS serving technology companies an added advantage
- A master's degree or equivalent certification in finance or accounts, CA preferred

- Lead the monthly sales tax process
- Work on SUT audits and notices
- Maintain and update filings calendar
- Work on tax projects and research
After about a year, you will…
- Have made a significant contribution toward enhancing the Tax department’s operations
- Lead and take ownership of upcoming tax projects
