Background Information:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Senior HR Specialist to be based in our Arlington office.  

Overview:

As a Senior Human Resources Talent Development Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and overseeing training programs to enhance the skills, knowledge, and professional development of employees within the organization, along with other employee engagement initiatives. The right candidate has a track record of developing training, increasing employee engagement with training opportunities, working adeptly within Cornerstone LMS (or similar platform), and enterprise talent development initiatives, such as competencies, learning paths, and learning evaluations to measure impact. You will collaborate closely with HR management, department heads, and subject matter experts to identify training needs, design, deploy and evaluate effective learning solutions. Your expertise in learning and development, combined with your strong interpersonal and communication skills, will contribute to fostering a culture of continuous learning and employee growth.

All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.

This is not a remote-only position and requires 2-3 days per week on-site in Arlington, VA.

 
Responsibilities Include: 
  • Leads the design and development of curricula and learning initiatives to meet and exceed employee skill needs.
  • Leads and develops training strategies to meet and exceed needs.
  • Proactively and routinely assesses training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, communication with managers, and other stakeholders and incorporates into training strategies.
  • Brings expertise and experience on talent development platforms, such as Cornerstone, to bear when developing, authoring and deploying training that engage learners through multiple mediums: on demand, virtual live learning and blended.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback.
  • Maintains knowledge of the latest advances in training and development and applies these improvements to engaging learning opportunities.
  • Develops competencies and learning paths for IDT job families and levels.
  • Facilitates new hire orientation and executes improvements proactively with fellow teammates.
  • Develop communications to increase interest in training opportunities.
  • Assess and make recommendations for targeted training opportunities for high potentials within the organization. Develop programs as appropriate for these populations.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Training and Development, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in training and development.
Required Skills:
  • Proven experience as a Human Resources Training Specialist or in a similar learning and development role.
  • Highly skilled at designing, developing, and authoring courses in a talent development system, such as Cornerstone and working with content that might be outside of your own expertise.
  • Proven record of measuring learning impacts.
  • Expert at instructional design and the ability to communicate design trade-offs with SMEs to ensure the best learning approach for learners.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.
  • High proficiency in training content development tools, such as but not limited to Create Tool, Rise, Articulate, and Storyline.
  • Experienced at creating/curating learning paths that align with employees’ job family and career track.
  • Experienced at developing competencies for job families, career levels, and linking them back to training opportunities.
  • Working capability to imbed and edit video for training purposes within the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Strong analytical skills to assess learning effectiveness, learning needs and opportunities.
Preferred Skills:
  • Interested in a career path in Talent Development
  • Relevant certifications in learning design, development, evaluation (ex: Certified Professional in Learning and Performance)
