Background information:

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking an Assistant Program Manager to be based in our Mount Laurel, NJ office.  


The Assistant Program Manager (APM) position provides an opportunity for a recent graduate to develop program and project management skills by assisting in the winning and execution of a product development program. The APM will help develop the cost and staffing plans for a Project Proposal and then track contract execution against those plans. The APM also monitors schedules and required deliverables and ensures contract compliance. This is not a management position.

All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in the development of staffing plans based on current and upcoming engineering deliverables
  • Assist in the development of cost estimates and the submittal of program proposals
  • Track daily/weekly/monthly spending and staffing to ensure execution is according to plan. Assist in updating plans and reacting to issues or changes of Customer direction.
  • Support the long-term staffing projections across the business unit, and conduct research to understand the business needs and trends
  • Track program execution according to the program contract to ensure compliance with required deliverables and with task execution
  • Assist in ongoing analysis of cost and program status
  • Help in defining problem/solutions from a Customer’s perspective and submitting proposals to meet those needs
  • Additional tasks as needed

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience, preferably in DoD industry
  • BA/BS Degree in Business, Engineering, or Mathematics/Accounting

  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Windows general knowledge and aptitude

Preferred skills:

  • Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Microsoft Project
  • Experience in proposal writing for grants or donors
  • Cost estimating experience
