Role Mission: The mission of the CNP Training Manager is to enhance professional development and training for our campus-based CNP teams. The Training Manager reports to the CNP Director of Compliance. This role supports the training needs and professional development of the cafeteria staff across the district. The Training Manager leads the successful execution of our key professional development events: CNP Scope and Sequence, Cafeteria Manager Onboarding Program, CNP Summer and Winter Institutes.  Other role responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ensuring departmental adherence to federal and state professional standard requirements, participating in cross functional & intra-departmental strategy meetings, and supporting the Staff Development Cycle and Talent review process.

 

Location: 

This is a full-time remote position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.

 

Travel Expectations:

Ability to travel up to 25% of the time per month/quarter/semester. Travel may be needed when supporting campuses (i.e. internal/external audit preparation(s), beginning of year, etc.) or attending local/state/national conferences and or professional development.

 

Note: There are no National Operations Team roles that are 100% virtual, all roles require some type of travel, whether to support campuses, attend PD, join required IDEA meetings, etc.

Compensation: 

 

  • Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $68,886 and $79,908, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on organizational performance and goal attainment.

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain a consistent onboarding plan for Cafeteria Managers (CM), Cafeteria Assistant Managers (CAM) and Food Service Specialists (FSS), FSS subs roles across all campuses and regions, that is such that sets the new hire up for success; review this onboarding plan annually and modify as needed.
  • Visit campuses, and observe meal service and general program operations, in order to assess current training effectiveness and opportunities for enhancement
  • Lead the design and implementation of a year-long CM/CAM/FSS Scope and Sequence Design professional development trainings, review yearly and collect feedback to continuously improve
  • Lead Summer and Winter Institutes with agenda, logistics and reviewing of training materials
  • Ensure that all professional standards information is entered into Primero Edge in a timely manner, for campus-level staff
  • Work with both HQ and campus teams to demonstrate continuous improvement in the areas of program compliance, pilots, projects, initiatives, and priorities. 

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support CNP Regional Managers and Cafeteria Managers on effectively organizing and conducting their own onboarding training initiatives
  • Conduct exit interviews for new hires who leave in their first 90 days; analyze results and course-correct as needed
  • Develop a feedback mechanism to capture new hires’ rating of their onboarding experience; analyze results and course-correct as needed
  • Collaborate with IDEA Human Assets to understand organizational employee job satisfaction results and implement action plans that maximize opportunities 
  • Attend state and national conferences to acquire new knowledge and skills in industry and apply to current role
  • Set attendance expectations, track attendance and schedule additional trainings as necessary for Cafeteria Managers and Cafeteria Assistant Managers
  • Escalate campus issues to CNP Regional Operations Managers and the Director of Operations as appropriate
  • Seek Feedback as an essential part of our culture, and you must actively seek it, understand it, and determine how it can best be used to improve our program and the role itself

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (examples):

 

  • Business awareness with working knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and processes used in food management
  • Knowledge of safety, security and sanitation procedures and their implementation in food operations
  • Ability to lead, motivate and coordinate with a diverse group across regions
  • Strong computer literacy is required with a hyper focus on the Microsfot Office Suite.
  • Strong mathematical skills and the ability to understand and interpret data (charts, graphs, etc.)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills in English
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrate problem solving, adaptability and flexibility; can reprioritize workload due to inclement weather, schedule changes, and any other potential setback
  • Can work independently with little direction
  • Can handle stress well to meet time sentitive deliverables

 

 

Required Education:

  • Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred

 

Experience:

  • 3+ years experience in a supervisory role or developing/delivering training programs
  • 3+ years experience in school food service

 

Physical Requirements:

·           This is a mobile position, must be able to be physically active (i.e. stand, sit, talk, hear reach, bend, walk, vision, lift) while performing job duties; if at a campus, these could be continuous for several hours

·           The ability to lift and or safely climb ladders while carrying approximately 10 pounds.
