Our teams are passionate about Merino, Icebreaker and the impact we can have on people’s lives.  We are looking for someone special to be part of the People & Performance (HR) team to partner with our peeps in North America & New Zealand & Australia region.


Located in our Gastown, Vancouver office, this position is a key HR business partner for the managers and teams for North America with responsibility for

  • Supporting the region’s Retail Managers to hire high performing, role fit Icebreakers with a focus on Store Manager and Manager-in-Training positions
  • Supporting all managers within the assigned region/markets to follow the Icebreaker ways for hiring, inducting, performance managing, paying, developing and communicating with their people (known internally as The Icebreaker Journey - Find, Train, Manage, Reward, Grow & Share)
  • Supporting all managers within to manage unsatisfactory performance or inappropriate behaviour following our Counselling & Disciplinary process

What your CV must have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Bachelor of Commerce or Business ideally in HR  & psychology)
  • 3+ years relevant HR experience & success as a high performing HR Coordinator or Recruitment consultant
  • Experience in retail recruitment (ideally an understanding of NA & NZ/AU retail markets)
  • Experience administering & continuously improving HR systems & processes
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • Exceptional organization, time management and project management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Knowledge of employment law (across US,CA, NZ & AU)
  • Advanced MS Office skills including Excel, Word and Powerpoint


 Stuff you can do:

  • The ability to coach managers in how to clearly articulate needs, commit to timeframes and follow the administrative processes involved in hiring people!
  • Mastered the world of social media and how to optimise it to attract retail talent
  • Strong skills in knowing how to use an online hiring system and candidate management tools
  • Novel, creative and interesting ways to attract people into the wonderful world of retail
  • A razor sharp focus on the importance of candidate experience (CX) and the need to orchestrate all the parties in a way that enables the pipeline to be managed efficiently and candidates to walk away or into our company feeling pumped about their experience.
  • Maintain the quality of our Position & Employee data and templates in our HR systems by ensuring regular audits and ongoing updates as a systems super user
  • Support Retail Managers to select high performing role fit Icebreakers to fill vacant Store Manager and Manager-in-Training positions

The remuneration for this role will be in a range of $50,000 - 60,000 plus 4 weeks annual leave, Canadian Health Insurance, laptop, phone allowance, and staff discount on Icebreaker product.
