About The Role- The Fabrication Automation Engineer is responsible for:  Designing, programming, simulating, and testing automated machinery or processes that are intended to complete precise tasks — for example robots.

Automation engineers work with automated machinery from concept to prototype, and are responsible for providing detailed documentation including design specifications that enable the production or application of their product.

 The position will work as a division engineer collaborating with product design engineers, process engineers and other operations experts. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include, but not limited to:

  •  Responsible for in-house automation equipment development for four plants
  • Analyze process efficiencies
  • Develop assembly concepts
  • Perform mechanical design and 3d modeling in Solidworks
  • Electrical control system design and build
  • Responsible for assembly, programming, installation and support
  • Oversee capital projects - develop scope of work, evaluate quotes, select contractors and coordinate work schedules
  • Troubleshooting PLCs and manufacturing equipment
  • Upgrade equipment controls (PLCs, Servo's, VFDs, HMIs)
  • Maintains workflow and programming documentation for all work by writing and updating procedures.
  • The position requires approximately 30% - 50% travel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering  (Mechanical or Systems)
  • 5-10 years of Engineering, with demonstrated track record installing automated machinery.
  • Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma training/certification a plus
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Expert understanding of automation processes and hardware/software.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proven ability to adapt and manage effectively in a changing environment
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement practices

 

Must have demonstrable expertise in the following areas:
