Department:Finance

 

Position Title:Cost Accountant

 

Position Reports To:Controller

 

Division:Hunter Douglas Metals & Distribution Center

 

Location:Tupelo, Mississippi

 

Objective of Position:The Cost Accountant will provide support to the facility operations related to costing of products and goods produced or received at the location. This shall include maintaining accurate and timely costing within SAP for existing and new product setups, as well as focus on inventory accuracy.

 

General Description of

Position:The Cost Accountant position will include responsibilities in the daily, monthly, and year-end financial processes. This position will be responsible for all aspects of bill of materials, inventory analysis and valuation, as well as associated reporting.

 

Essential Responsibilities

General responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Review and analyze bill of materials (BOM’s) for accuracy and validity, conduct research and make recommendations  on required changes
  • Analyze standard costing /budget / actual and generate analysis reports related to variances and cost by various parameters
  • Assist controller with the development of annual budgets and forecasts
  • Assist with special and ad hoc projects
  • Assist in month end closing, prepare journal entries as necessary, and results reporting
  • Develop and maintain standard cost for all part numbers
  • Develops and maintains ongoing audits of standard costs, work centers and routings
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Train and develop as management support for Controller
  • Maintain and develop internal documentation and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

 

  •  Solid analytical skills
  • Good business acumen
  • Solid understanding of cost accounting principles and ERP Cost systems
  • Basic knowledge of GAAP principles
  • Develop and maintain standard cost for all part numbers
  • Develops and maintains ongoing audits of standard costs, work centers and routings
  • Willing to learn different aspects of Accounting
  • Detail oriented and strong work ethic
  • Strong technical skills regarding inventory management, reconciliation and cost analysis
  • Excellent, verbal and written business communication and organizational skills

 

 

 

Training, Experience and Other Desired Qualities

 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting /Finance from a four-year college or university
  • Minimum of two (2) years  general/cost accounting related experience preferably in manufacturing environment
  • SAP Experience a preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint

1.Office environment and Manufacturing area(s), on and off-site.
