Summary:

This role acts as the primary liaison to the Alternative Brands and International Channels in support of product management and development projects. Responds to inquiries from the various channel contacts in support of product, launch and quality requests.  Assists Product Manager with product management needs and represents product team during development meetings. Supports the execution of product launch plans to meet market needs of our various alternative brands and international channels.

 

What will you do?

Product Development and Research (20%)

Create product platforms and scope documentation that includes fabrication validation, cost targets, SKU analysis, project management (OP812), market needs assessment and hardware, color/fabric development guidance.

 

Act as the alternative brand management representative on cross-functional product management teams.

 

Support trade brand and international channel product lines through the product lifecycle by providing cross-functional support to resolve product quality, manufacturing, fabrication and global customer challenges.

 

Evaluate trade brand and international product development and make recommendations for improvement.

 

Ensure that products available to each market are up to date with the current branding and specification information.

 

Customer Support and Training (10%)

Act as the liaison between Product Management teams and internal and external customers.

 

Gather product and sales data to better forecast and manage SKUs between channels.

 

Review alternative brand and international channels sampling order requests for accuracy.

 

Communications (30%)

 

Work closely with teams in other functional areas to convey the product/project vision and goals to assist with execution.

 

Work with Product Management teams on development, launch and quality issues while maintaining proper feedback to close open initiatives.

 

Build effective collaboration across all cross functional areas.

 

Create written correspondence to accompany product bulletins, outlining technical changes to the product, product enhancement or product line discontinuation.

 

Responsible for the maintenance of Alternative Brand online resource sites and content maintained within.

 

Introduce new products and its features to global partners.

 

Manage the alternative brand and international channel 3-year launch calendar.

 

Responsible for all Alternative Brand correspondence: Product summits, conference calls notes and general distributed information.

 

Product Management Programs (25%)

Assist in the creation, development, presentation and execution of all product programs as necessary: Private Label Summit, International WebEx, Alternative Brand conference calls, International customer fabrication training and internal customer service support training.

 

Maintain understanding of branded product launches in order to define effective product direction, launch plans and discontinuation strategies for our global partners.

 

Assist in the execution of new product introduction efforts within channels including launch site development, gathering technical product details and launch collateral.

 

Support Alternative Brand product awareness to help direct decisions within the Hunter Douglas channels.

 

Ensure corporate image is maintained throughout all product communications, programs and sales tools.

 

Financials (5%)

Maintain updated Alternative Brand planning BOMs as needed

 

Merchandising (5%)

Work with sampling and photography team to deliver desired sampling materials.

 

Strategy (5%)

Work with the Product Management team to provide an annual strategy plan for the Alternative Brand channels; including launch planning and framework, 3-year launch calendar, discontinuation strategies including SKU rationalization and end-of-life implementation guidelines.

Basic knowledge of SAP in order to pull sales information

Basic knowledge of the WFD product lines

Solid knowledge of project management

Solid knowledge of computer use and software packages like: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google docs; knowledge of Smartsheet a plus

Solid knowledge of analyzing and comparing competitive data

Solid knowledge of communication skills and how to adapt to various situations when dealing with feedback

Expert knowledge of correct grammar usage to compose and proofread correspondence

Skill in conducting presentations to all size audiences

Skill in presenting recommendations for action plans to management based on the analysis

Ability to work with multiple product lines and channels simultaneously and on a daily basis 

Ability to work in fast-paced and flexible work environment

Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work

Ability to wear multiple hats, utilize creative thinking and problem solving techniques

Ability to prioritize and organize multiple work assignments; and conduct work in a self-directed manner with limited supervision

 

Acceptable training and experience requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Three to five years of related product management is desired. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree a substitute of additional two to three years of product management experience is acceptable.
