Position at Hunter Douglas Inc.

SUMMARY

The foundation of Hunter Douglas’s success are the people that keep our operations running.  These are the folks on the production floor using custom machinery to transform beautiful fabric into the shade hanging in a customer’s window.  There is no single role more important to the success of the business.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Manufacturing:

Communicates with other shifts and cross functional areas to receive information on equipment or fabrics.

 

Cleans all parts of equipment before starting operation of equipment.

 

Loads necessary fabric into machine.  

 

Monitors machine performance on a continuous basis.

 

Seeks and lends assistance to other Technicians when nedded.

 

Restocks supplies. Sweeps floor and performs general housekeeping procedures within production area for safety purposes.

 

Warehouse:

Be a resource to any area of warehouse operations to include: Internal & External Distribution, Shade Shipping, Raw Materials, Receiving, Internal Putaway

 

Assures all general warehouse processes and procedures are followed.

 

Communicates status of assigned projects and tasks. Communicates issues and concerns when needed.

 

When called upon, participates and shares in discussions with the warehouse personnel on the status of projects and short term and long-range goals of the department.

 

Ability to use equipment such as Bar Code scanners, Computer programs, forklifts etc.

 

Assembly:

Selects correct material fabric.

 

Inspects fabric roll for flaws and defects. Determines shade width and using a razor edge, cuts needed width of fabric.

 

Performs end treatment on fabric using scissors, tape,and glue.

 

Measures fabric, then activates cutting blade following equipment safety precautions.

 

Cuts rail to desired length using rail saw.

 

Performs inspection of matching fabric and rail. Determines whether shade passes inspection criteria.

 

Winds and attaches inspected fabric onto core. Packages and places corresponding rail inside core.

 

Qualifications: Manufacturing / Fabrication / Assembly experience is a plus! Applicants must be team-oriented and quality focused. Must be able to read a tape measure to +/- 1/8", do basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication & division). Must have good communication skills, both verbal & written. Employees must have a positive attitude demonstrated through work reviews and attendance records. Must be willing to rotate to other areas when business needs dictate. Candidates must have reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements: constant standing, repeated hand, arm, upper body movement - push, pull, reach, bend, and stoop. Some positions may require visual color acuity testing and heavy lifting.
