The Assistant Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Manager is responsible for assisting VDC managers in design and trade partner coordination. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong proficiency in visualizing the constructability of various projects in order to lead two to four deliverables at one time. In this role, you may be the VDC lead on 1-3 smaller projects at one time. In this role you may be required to travel up to 15% of the time.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead MEP coordination meeting discussions
  • Identify constructability issues, missing information, and notify the project team of these issues and RFI’s that need to be written
  • Maintain open communication with project teams, to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Actively engage in collaborative problem solving with architects, engineers, project team members, and trade contractors
  • Assist VDC Manager in developing project specific VDC strategies, scope, and plan in addition to standard processes
  • Aide and support training in various software packages (i.e.: Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, etc.)
  • Administer and support VDC coordination kick-off meeting and subsequent meetings
  • Assist VDC Manager in preparing guidelines and processes for project requirements and in the development of BIM plans and strategy
  • Support implementation of project specific VDC strategy and VDC initiatives
  • Project specific leadership and mentoring for VDC and related technology fields
  • Assist VDC Managers in language creation for BIM Execution Plans.
  • Support the pre-construction process by producing and adjusting models as required for constructability reviews, quantity take-offs, project scheduling and cost estimates. Create virtual mock-ups and other modeling activities.
  • Assist in development of laser scan plan documents and perform laser scan services for project teams
  • Communicate with the project trade partners to manage the production of Model Based Submittals
  • Collect comprehensive building models, examine for conflicts, document, assign and help determine how to manage change and development
  • Communicate with trade contractors on coordination progress and host working sessions
  • Manage on-site construction team efforts in the implementation of VDC applications and processes in addition to VDC deliverables
  • Assist in the development and maintain project coordination schedules. May delegate to and coach VDC Engineers on day-to-day tasks and assignments
  • Support setup of VDC field equipment and software (total stations, laser scanner, UAVs)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Const Mgmt, Architecture, Engineering or related field, or equiv AEC experience preferred
  • 2-5 years BIM coordination experience preferred
  • 2-5 years experience working in Precon, Operations, or VDC-related role
  • Intermediate level software knowledge in Autodesk packages (i.e.: Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, etc.) and other platforms
  • Proficiency in Navisworks required. Experience with Revit, Assemble, Revizto preferred by not required.
  • Experience creating custom Revit families
  • Familiarity with construction concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Possesses strong technical skills, and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Valid Driver's License required
