Description

The VDC Manager is responsible for managing the on-site VDC process for one or more projects, facilitates production and model development for all phases of the projects, and is responsible for the implementation of advanced technologies and providing support to VDC initiatives. This role is responsible for harnessing and leveraging Building Information Model (BIM) related solutions and bringing its benefits to each project in the Preconstruction phase. This position contributes value by allowing more accuracy in quantity estimation, visual representation of scope during preconstruction, facilitating Target Value Design and laying the foundation for Location Based Scheduling with quantities derived from BIM. In this role you may be required to travel up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, coach and provide support to VDC staff, creating and utilizing models for schedule optimization; support VDC implementation opportunities in the marketing and preconstruction phases of a project.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop BIM plans and strategy, implement VDC program activities for projects.
  • Maintain quality assurance of design and support BIM implementation opportunities in the pre-construction phases of a project; lead development of project BIM deliverables, including sign off models and FM data.
  • Develop and maintain the BIM/VDC technologies and processes, provide training and effective communication where changes impact procedures, people and practices. Participate in development and implementation of corporate VDC goals.
  • Implement various BIM modeling applications. Provide technical knowledge of the BIM applications used, related systems and network infrastructure, and provide general awareness of new technology.
  • Attend meetings to assist project teams with BIM coordination, budget development and reviews; assist marketing group with communication the benefits of BIM to prospective clients, owners and partners.
  • Maintain, Evaluate and Report VDC Metrics.; maintain an accurate and current database of VDC implementation costs for each project within the Division.
  • Effectively communicate BIM plan and coordination with field supervision, trade partners, project teams. Discuss VDC “lessons learned” and Verify/Confirm Concurrence.
  • Review trade partner BIM qualifications and advise project team during buyout, ensure trade partner/subcontractor compliance with BIM requirements.
  • Work with reality capture team or service providers to perform laser scanning services.
  • Assist IT services with troubleshooting BIM software issues and troubleshooting for local users.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Building Science, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in VDC/BIM 3D modeling, construction technology or related field. Specific technical expertise with VDC systems is required.
  • Proficient with BIM technology such as: VICO, Navisworks, Revit, Assemble and other design technology in the A/C/E industry, as well as Auto Desk Suite and MS Office Suite.
  • Complete understanding of building design, construction, operations, sequencing, techniques and systems, CPM scheduling and preconstruction services required. Must be able to read and understand contract documents and drawings, have a thorough understanding of documentation procedures, project contracts and specifications.
  • LEED AP, CDP, Design-Build Institute of America certifications preferred
  • Valid Driver's License required
