Key Accountabilities

Foster a diverse and inclusive culture

  • Oversee recruitment, selection and retention of Toronto office consulting and administrative staff ensuring the office has adequate resources
  • Promote and support staff training opportunities
  • Be a champion for inclusion and diversity
  • Provide ongoing feedback, counsel and support to direct reports to help them with their career development and training goals


Lead client relationships

  • Lead accounts based on subject matter/service area expertise
  • Support, mentor and coach team members on best in class client service
  • Work with our Chief Client Officer to support client retention and organic growth activities


Support business development and marketing

  • Develop and maintain personal and company profile in the marketplace through networking, marketing and thought leadership activities
  • Identify and secure new business


Drive financial performance

  • Create and execute an annual business plan, aligned to global and national priorities
  • Accountable for office financial performance
  • Oversee office operations and administration
  • Collaborate with other H+K offices to support business development and client assignments


Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of 15 years experience providing leadership and direction to staff at all levels and working collaboratively with executive leaders, ideally in a consulting environment
  • Exhibit a transparent management philosophy and ability to resolve sensitive issues
  • Able to develop and manage a high-performance team focused on accountability and exceeding expectations
  • Strategic thinker, capable of thinking broadly and strategically without losing sight of details
  • Excellent marketing, business development and presentation skills
  • Previous experience working in an agency or client service environment is essential
  • Experience working in or leading communications assignments that combine a variety of services such as marketing communications, corporate communications, public affairs, citizen engagement, digital and/or social media strategy is essential
  • Corporate communications, crisis/issues communications and/or public affairs is preferred
