Hill+Knowlton Strategies is seeking a Bold, Creative, Game Changer to join our dynamic group as the US Marketing Communications Practice Lead in either New York or Washington, DC. This role presents an opportunity to serve as a Global Consumer Thought Leader, designing and executing integrated consumer campaigns on behalf of globally influential brands spanning consumer products, food and beverage, hospitality, retail and automotive. 

Consumer markets are often challenged by shifting brand loyalties and a fragmented media landscape. The ideal Marketing Communications Practice Leader will possess a deep understanding of these industry nuances and demonstrate a proven track record of success developing high impact communications strategies across paid, earned, owned and shared media channels.   


H+K is home to the brightest consumer-minded communications professionals in the business. The US Marketing Communications Lead will:

  • Mentor and assist in developing the internal consumer team across the US, regularly assessing talent/progress to ensure their continued career development and growth
  • Supervise H+K client account teams, educating staff on best practices in the development and implementation of communications programs to maximize exposure for clients
  • Inspire, lead and motivate client teams by providing senior level support, guidance, team planning and overall practice direction
  • Lead by example, create a unified vision for the consumer practice and inject your personal creativity and passion into groundbreaking consumer campaigns 


This position will manage, oversee and influence bold, creative, headline-making clients by:

  • Maintaining client contact, acting as a trusted partner and counselor to globally recognized consumer brands
  • Ensuring client accounts are maintained/serviced at the highest level, anticipating and resolving any issues or conflicts quickly and effectively
  • Providing true industry thought leadership through a proven track record of success in masterminding effective, high impact consumer programs to achieve client objectives
  • Exercising strategic thinking and the ability to fit public relations into global campaigns and overarching brand/corporate positioning
  • Growing existing client relationships to drive organic business growth
  • Understanding the business of account management, staff planning/cost-to-fee ratios and accurate forecasting/budgeting to ensure accounts are handled properly and profitably 

Business Development

The US Marketing Communications Lead will play a critical role in the continued growth and success of the practice and will be:

  • Highly connected within the consumer marketing industry with an impressive CMO “black book” in order to open doors with key prospects
  • Considered an industry partner within blue chip consumer brand circles
  • Successful in growing and developing H+K’s consumer practice by acquiring new clients through pro-active new business endeavors, utilizing personal contacts/connections where appropriate
  • Expand the existing client portfolio through organic growth and presenting new opportunities by leveraging other agency services and industry sector expertise

  • 15+ years’ agency side experience in consumer marketing/communications
  • True expert in consumer marketing and direct audience/influencer engagement able to view strategic execution through an audience-centric, channel agnostic lens
  • Innovative, early adopter of social media and integrated communications programs with ability to thrive on multi-agency client teams
  • Matrix driven with internal staff and clients, able to see success in creativity and ROI
  • Understand the relationship between brand marketing, audience perception and corporate behavior

  • Understand that digital is a core strategic discipline to reach consumers and drive engagement
