Dishwasher - Hewing Hotel

Hewing Hotel, located in the North Loop of Minneapolis, has an opening for a FT Dishwasher in our Kitchen Department that pays $12 per hour.

Hewing Hotel takes a sustainable approach to food and beverage - sourcing from and collaborating with regional farmers and purveyors, working with local breweries, coffee roasters and spirit makers, and connecting the staff and guest with the source as much as possible. The menu is heavily driven by seasonality.

Job Requirements:

  • Washes and polishes dishes, silverware and glassware
  • Stores and supplies departments with dishes, silverware and glassware
  • Cleans the kitchen and back of house area
  • Reads, understands and follows each component of a banquet function sheet for the set-up of a banquet event
  • Collects all dishes, silverware and glassware for banquet events and has them delivered to appropriate areas
  • Set ups and delivers all food items that are pre-arranged responsibility of Stewarding for a banquet event to the function room in a timely manner
  • Assists in the plate up of all courses and their delivery to the function room
  • Set ups a breakdown area and assists in the breakdown and clean-up of all dirty dishes returning from an event space and assists in the breakdown of side stations, buffets and back of the house areas
Additional Requirements: 
  • Good reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English languag
  • Able to work well unsupervised
  • Maintain a good working relationship with other associates by promoting teamwork and fostering a harmonious working climate
  • Partake in a positive work ethic and surrounding environment

  • Constantly recommend service and product improvement to better the operation
  • Attend all required meetings
  • Follow proper payroll and uniform procedures
  • Properly handle and report associate and guest accidents
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental polices/service procedures/standards
  • Assist with responsibilities and duties in other departments and as assigned by management
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel

  • Continuous standing and walking

  • Trays weigh 30 lbs. >
  • Carts: 250 lbs. (12-20 lbs. of push/pull force required)
  • Hot box: 200 lbs.
  • Move banquet tables & chairs


  • Standing and walking is continuous for 4-5 hours at a time
  • Lifting and carrying 30-40 lb. tray, crate or box
  • Negotiating varied floor surfaces is continuous
  • Carrying over shoulder is occasional
  • Hand and elbow movements for polishing glassware, silver and setting up tables
  • Lifting and carrying hot boxes continuous
  • Rolling and/or carrying banquet tables continuous
  • Carrying stackable banquet chairs by loading cart continuous 


  • Excellent sight and balance needed for negotiating varied floor surfaces
  • Handling lighted candles and hot fluids (coffee and tea)
  • Good speech and hearing to interact with guests
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10 degrees F) and kitchens (+110degrees F), possible for 1 hour or more
