Hachette Book Group is seeking a highly organized, detail-driven Sales Coordinator to join our Gift & Specialty Sales Department. This pivotal role supports our Key Account Managers by managing daily sales operations, performing advanced data analysis, and preparing compelling sales presentations. The ideal candidate combines strong operational skills with expertise in Excel and analytics, a passion for sales math, and a keen interest in growing sales by analyzing market and sales trends.
Responsibilities:
- Support Key Account Managers working with National Accounts such as TJ Maxx, Anthropologie, and World Market through detailed operational management and analytical insight.
- Prepare and deliver professional sales presentations for onsite, offsite, and virtual meetings using PowerPoint, ensuring clear and impactful communication of data and trends.
- Manage comprehensive sales reporting, creating daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports in Excel; utilize advanced functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, PivotTables) to analyze data, identify patterns, and recommend strategies to optimize sales performance.
- Track and process sales orders accurately, oversee inventory management, and coordinate logistics to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Perform sales math with precision, including calculating percentages, discounts, and other sales-related metrics to support pricing and promotional decisions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments and external sales representatives to drive cohesive execution of sales initiatives.
- Assist with special projects aimed at expanding gift and specialty sales opportunities through market research and trend analysis.
- Attend occasional trade shows and sales events to provide operational support and enhance client relationships.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience in sales coordination or assistant roles, preferably within gift, specialty sales, or related industries.
- Strong operations mindset with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Expertise in Excel with advanced analytical skills, including data manipulation, trend analysis, and reporting.
- Proven ability to create professional PowerPoint presentations that effectively communicate complex data and sales strategies.
- Strong numerical skills with the ability to perform sales math, such as calculating discounts, markups, and percentages confidently and accurately.
- Demonstrated interest in sales growth, with an analytical approach to interpreting market data, sales trends, and competitive insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on customer service and collaboration.
- Self-starter who works independently while supporting team goals in a dynamic environment.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Familiarity with EDI order processing, Tradestone, and Edelweiss is a plus.
The position is based out of our NYC office on a hybrid schedule. Please note our current hybrid model is 3 days in-office, 2 days working from home.

The compensation for this position is $53,200. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
